Stumbling Down Memory Lane Part 2: Brought to you by Off the Fang!

Next stop on our meander down Memory Lane is an oldie but goodie: Hex and the Single Girl by Valerie Frankel. Not gonna lie – I bought the book because of the cover. How cute is the little frog in the bag?? Seriously!?!

Hex and the Single Girl is possibly one of the cutest and funniest novels I’ve ever read. I can easily sit down and lose myself in it for a few hours without realizing time has passed. My son, obviously, is not a fan of the book. : ) There are no brooding vampires or drop-dead-sexy werewolves; just a shy matchmaker with the ability to transmit images into other peoples’ heads. She also has a very active imagination, and the scene where she “sees” William, the love interest, performing an intimate act…holy mother of cocoa beans!

Every time I read this book, I find more and more scenes that make me spew coffee out of my nose. You’d think I’d learn not to drink coffee while reading it! Hex and the Single Girl is more than the sexiness of the love interest and the eggcellent humor injected into every scene – it’s also a very sweet romance. I found myself close to tearing up several times when it looked like the love birds weren’t going to find a way to be together. Very impressive, considering the short length of the novel.

Hex and the Single GirlMy review is located here: http://www.bittenbybooks.com/35355/hex-and-the-single-girl-valerie-frankel/. What I expect from me – because you KNOW you have to chit chat with me – is simple:
1) Read the review
2) Tell me if you’ve read the book
3) Tell me if you’d LIKE to read the book and why
Still no giveaway folks, but one is pending. CAN YOU FEEEEL THE EGGCITEMENT??

  1. HA! Eggcitement. (It doesn’t take much to amuse me, especially after a long day.)I haven’t read this one either. So do you know what that means? I am now going to read this one too. I just picked up Red today and have nothad the chance to start it yet. You’re killing me, Smalls! You are reeking havoc on my TBR list!

But I did read your review. And I do so love humor in a book! Who doesn’t love witty and humorous banter. I love it when you can’t wait to read the next page. Or the ones that are so funny, that you laugh to yourself in public ultimately looking like a crazy person.

This seems to have plenty of fodder for that, so it looks like another book is going to get bumped down on the TBR list!

  2. This one sounds good, but it’s not something I would have picked up on my own without a friend recommending it to me and telling me I had to read it. If I saw it in the book store and it was clearanced I would have bought it, but I admit I’d probably pass it by if it were like a new release. I do like my funny, but I have to be in the mood for it, and with my TBR list so high, I’m becoming a little more picky unless things are like on super sale. Yea, I admit it, I can be cheap!! :) But I did check it out on amazon too, and saw other good reviews for it. Just not in the mood for something like this right now though. Oh, BTW, that frog is cute!!
