If you were to make the newspaper front page, what would the headline read?
You are reincarnated as a tennis shoe, describe yourself.

This was the first podcast I’ve listened to and though for some reason (probably my stupid computer)I kept losing the sound. I simply refreshed and went back to the time stamp where I quit hearing it and started over. Anyway, thoroughly enjoyed this experience. I hope this is something BBB does more often.(Though I guess you couldn’t sneak and do this at work like you could a simple question/answer interview.)
Anyway, I thing the idea of being a minion for a fav author is awesome.
Lisa: I think the headline would read “Local boater falls overboard, stays afloat on raft of books!”
As to the Tennis shoe… probably a ratty old Nike running shoe (I have Nike feet-nothing else fits right)
There is no sound. I hear nothing - bummed
I really wanted to hear this. I rsvp’d and everything. Well I wish you much success :).

That happened to me with the first podcast. If you got an email about this, the link in the email worked for me last time. You might want to try that.
Hi I’m Christine, from Missouri, USA. I have a question. You said your books were Paranormal Detective Novels. I hate to say it, but I’m one of them who has not read this series. I was wondering, you also mentioned having talked about Urban Fantasy prior to the taping. What is the difference in Paranormal and Urban Fantasy?
I’m enjoying the interview. I loved all the laughing early on too.
Crack’in me up! Thanks!
Urban Fantasy is very broad in my mind and encompases a lot of paranormal and occult subjects mixed with romance, adventure, chick-lit, and other stuff. When I say “paranormal detective” it’s an attempt to be more precise so people know which flavor of Urban Fantasy they are going to get. Sometimes people are disappointed that my books aren’t romances, or they are upset that they are basically detective novels with monsters and ghosts, so to avoid that, I started using a more specific description.
I see, I was wondering do your novels attracted both men and women to read them?
Thanks, Christine
yes, they do attract both men and women. From what I can tell my fan base is about 40% male at the moment.
This is hilarious! The nom nom noises alone were priceless.
I think it was all downhill from the point when you guys say ‘This time for sure’. Which I thought my sister and I were the only ones who said that on a regular basis. But I think the Manhattans might have been an influencing factor!
I think you could completely get more minions! You should. Everyone should have minions.
And that email is indeed weird. Just hearing it kind of creeped me out. I’ve heard some of the weird things that authors have been asked in person and in email. And wow. Someone should put a book together of all the weird author questions.
So I’m sort of curious how much of this do you both remember? Because I’m guessing there was more Manhattan drinking
And being a self proclaimed couch potato, what are some of your guilty watching pleasures?
Thanks. I enjoyed listening.

Well, we recorded this in March so I’ve actually forgotten all the actual questions, but I do remember the Manhattans and a lot of silliness.
Oh and I don’t have a TV, so my guilty pleasure is watching Bones on HULU, or playing Plants vs Zombies…..
I do remember!! LOL. Thank goodness, because it was so much fun.
It did sound like the two of you were having so much fun.
We had a riotous good time. So much so that Sandra used the manhattan technique on Mark Teppo, later!
It took me a few tries to get the podcast to work, but I’m glad that I did. This was highly enjoyable - it seems like you guys had a lot of fun with this.
My question for both Kat and Sandy: favorite fictional character and why? Also, because I’m just curious, what did the conversation about Maraschino cherries involve?
Mare S, USA

Favorite fictional character…. Ratty from The Wind in the Willows.
The Maraschino discussion was mostly about how they are made and where they come from originally because Sandra is a good girl and didn’t eat hers.
Favourite fictional character: Molly Grue from the Last Unicorn. I just loved her attitude!!
I listened to the entire podcast. No problems with sound. Fun interview. I’ve read the first 4 books in the Greywalker series. I need to order number 5 and 6 now. I love the series.
Aww… thank you!
I listened to it all. No audio problems here either. I thought the interview was great. I like candid interviews.Rehearsed Q&A gets kind of boring sometimes.
Hi Kat
* Do you want your Books to become TV Show because the one with the Detective and helping ghost and such sounds like it would be a great tv show.

I would be totally thrilled if the books became a TV show-even if they changed things a lot-because I think the idea would be really fun TV! (not to mention, more people would hear about the books and want to read them, which would make me deliriously happy!)
I wasn’t able to listen to most of it kept having audio problems. But I’ve heard of Kat’s series and would like to read it.

I had some sound difficulties myself and had to reload a few times to get the complete download. But it reminded me how fun the interview was!
The sound keeps going in and out (and between five boys too * sighs*)

Why a ferret? MIL has one and my SIL had couple. Had, she never keeps animals for long. It’s fun to watch them.
I had pet ferrets at the time and originally I gave her a dog (because I thought a single woman with a cat was too cliche and sad.) But my agent pointed out that she never had time to take care of the dog, so I switched her to the more portable pet: a ferret!
Incidentally, the pit bull next door was originally Harper’s dog.
Ferret’s aren’t for everyone, but I really like them!
Rhianna Walker (USA)
How bad am I? I’ve been eyeballing this series since Greywalker was a pre-order on Amazon but haven’t read it. Aside from this being the longest podcast ever it was very enjoyable. I had such a squee moment when y’all brought up The Beastmaster ferrets. When I was little I wanted ferrets after seeing that movie… until I smelled real ones. hehe!
Anywho I know I had a question pop up fairly early in the podcast but now I forget what it was. With that in mind… Sandra, are all author interview podcasts going to be this lengthy?
I’m going to have to have a pen ready to write my questions down as they pop up if they are. lol
Thanks for sharing such an enjoyable Q&A session Kat and Sandra.

Glad you enjoyed it in spite of the length-it was such fun to do!
hi there!
Question: So from what I can understand your books are Paranormal Urban Fantasy/Detective type novels?
I tried to listen to the audio interview but it didn’t work for me

+1 for question
They are marketed as Urban Fantasy, but the niche is so broad right now, that I tend to call them “paranormal detective novels” so people have a better idea of exactly what they are going to get. I am a huge mystery fan and I basically write mysteries with ghosts and monsters. A lot of readers who are new to the niche think it’s all romance and I hate to disappoint people when mine aren’t like that (which they aren’t). And I also like to get people who think they won’t like Urban Fantasy, but do like detective stories or books like the Dresden Files, to give mine a try-they often discover they like them better than they expected to.
Thanks Kat! That does help some! I actually like a lot of Paranormal genres that “blur” the lines… whether they are Urban Fantasy Paranormal or Young Adult Paranormal or Historical Paranormal etc but I think its cool that you give it a more defined category with explaining the detective part up front! I’ll have to give these a try as I do enjoy a bit of Urban Fantasy in my paranormal.. I don’t have to have romance but I do like a bit of hmm affection… exasperating relationship with some stupid male character even if they don’t get together for like 6 books LOL!
just the tension will leave me coming back for more
Thanks for answering my questions
I did hear all of the fun you 2 were having!

I have to tell you that I read the first 3 in the greywalker series and LOVED them! I have 4 & 5, just need to catch up with the rest. I was going to pick them up for audio, too. Do you have any say about who narrates? Do you like audio? Sounds like a good time had by all, wished I was there!
