Screen Bites: Rip Out Our Hearts, Why Don’t You? The End of the Season on Lost Girl

***This column will be loaded with spoilers, Watchers, so read no further if you have not seen the episodes through the finale. **

I love this show. I have loved this show from its very first episode. However, this season has caused me some frustration. First, though, let’s discuss the heartbreak.

The shock of Hale’s death was so visceral and unexpected that I couldn’t stop thinking about it into the next day. I honestly believe that my jaw dropped open-literally-when I watched that scene. He was such a great character-a truly nice guy who always tried to do the right thing.

And the finale, with Kenzi. I must say, though, that I have more hope in this case, since her plan to go to Valhalla is stated at the outset, and Bo says she will find her. Now it could be that they are just stringing us along, but I remain hopeful. What about you?

What has me frustrated this season is the division between the characters, especially in the last few episodes. Their bond is their strength, and the show has felt somewhat disjointed to me without it.

How do you feel about this season?

Any favorite moments or scenes?

The show will return to SyFy in 2015.

I just watched Hale die this evening and I bawled like crazy!

  2. Oh- I am so, so behind (but love spoilers because I’ twisted?) but this make me so sad! I really enjoyed Hale. Do you think he is dead-dead or tv dead?

  3. This season definitely hasn’t been my favorite, but I still like it enough to keep watching. I don’t think there’s any way they would make Kenzi dead-dead. I’m not even 100% sure Hale or Even The Wanderer is really dead-dead (though probably.) Only because of a comment he (Wanderer, for some reason I’m blanking on his name right now) made during a scene with Bo and Trick where they were talking about Bo’s blood and what she was capable of. One of the things he said she could do was ‘raise the dead’ with her blood. Among other things like raise or control armies blah blah superpowerful- but the raise the dead thing perked my ears up. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking since I liked Hale a lot. Just thought I’d float that out there. Maybe he just meant she could raise zombie/revenant/ghost things.

  4. I do not want to wait nearly a year to watch more. I was SO upset about Hale and pretty confused because parts of the story were missing regarding Rainer and it was just disjointed. Kenzi, oh my goodness… this was pretty crazy.

  5. I confess, even though I hadn’t seen the finale yet on Tuesday, I headed straight for this post anyway-TV has traumatized me so much lately (count me among those horrified and outraged by the HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER finale last week-what a way to destroy the spirit of 9 years of character development and tone, but I digress) that I had to find out. Hale’s death did definitely shock me, and I feel so bad for Kenzi. She’s always kind of gotten the short end of the stick plotwise anyway (kind of a thankless sidekick role with no great romance before now or special powers), and she didn’t deserve to have her happiness taken from her. Ksenia Solo’s acting has been a high point in an otherwise underwhelming season for me-she had some really great scenes with the Valkyrie early this season, and her grieving over Hale was so heartrending. If she doesn’t return, I’m definitely out next year…

  6. I haven’t watched this yet =/

  7. There is no Lost Girl without Kenzi. Period. If she remains dead, I’m considering this show to have jumped the shark and will likely not watch further episodes. The whole Ranier thing was a real turn-off. They made him seem like he was this Big Bad and he was kind of a putz.

  8. The only aspect of these season I really liked was seeing Tamsin grow up. Kenzi and Tamsin were so great together. I’ve got to admit, I was so blown away when Hale died that I rewatched the ending several times just to see if I’d missed something.

  9. I havent watched this yet!
