In addition to the crazy goings-on in Bon Temps, we will also check in with the denizens of Eureka and the fae community of Lost Girl.
True Blood, Sundays 9:00 EST, HBO
So, at long last the wild and wacky world of True Blood has returned to the screen. A lot has happened in just two weeks: vampire Tara (with Pam as her maker), Bill and Eric captured twice and rescued once (by Eric’s “sister,” a very loose term), Sam just barely escaping death at the hands of Marcus’ pack, and the political maneuvering of the Vampire Authority.
The first scene of the premier episode picks up right where last season ended, with Sookie having shot Debbie (information she has yet to share with Alcide) and the death of Tara. When Pam arrives looking for Eric, both Sookie and Lafayette beg her to turn Tara. Reluctantly, Pam agrees, though she expects Sookie to help her with a problem. As we see over the first two episodes, things don’t go quite as smoothly with Tara as her friend and cousin hope.
Bill and Eric get captured, then rescued, by Eric’s sister, Nora, a member of the Authority. Their escape doesn’t work out so well, when all three get captured. The Authority remains very serious about assimilation with humans, and seeks to root out any who stand in their way. Bill and Eric strike a deal to get them the escaped Russell Edgington. Speaking of the Authority, even though I could not help thinking of Stabler when watching Christopher Meloni’s first scene, by the end of it I was completely convinced of his new persona. How about you?
I find the whole bit about the vampire bible very intriguing. I look forward to finding out what else they will do with this aspect of the vampire culture.
My favorite line from the last two episodes: “I’m wearing a Walmart sweat suit for y’all. If that’s not a demonstration of team spirit, I don’t know what is” (Pam to Sookie and Lafayette).
Jason has gotten more reflective, realizing the repercussions of his behavior. Terry is plagued by waking and sleeping nightmares about his time in Iraq. After she secures his release from the wolf pack, Luna gets annoyed with Sam and kicks him out. Andy has a girlfriend. We get a little of Pam and Eric’s backstory, which should provide insight regarding their present relationship. Hoyt still wants nothing to do with Jason.
Watchers, what have been your favorite parts of the show so far this season? Least favorite?
Eureka, Monday 9:00 EST, SyFy
The writers and producers have their work cut out for them, considering they need to wrap up the show in a way that satisfies and makes sense, yet also adds dramatically to the storyline. After the first couple of episodes, I wasn’t sure they were pulling it off, but after the last episode I watched, the one with Allison and Carter stranded in the underwater lab module, I really feel as though they are heading in the right direction.
What are your feelings about the show this season?
The series finale airs July 16th.
Lost Girl, Monday 10:00 EST, SyFy
The plot thickens with Lauren’s (as we now know) cursed girlfriend lying in a coma. I like the way this situation has been handled in how it has affected the relationship of Bo and Lauren. I’m not really sure that this mystery can sustain the position of being the season arc, however. What do you think?
The show continues to provide interesting and fun storylines each week and always entertains.
Fans were pleased to hear that SyFy will also pick up season three of the show, now in production in Canada.
Next time: more True Blood, Eureka, and Lost Girl, along with the return of Falling Skies.
Happy viewing!

True Blood will be interesting for sure, loce Chris Meloni, so now may have to join the authority, lol.
Jason (Ryan Kwanten)will be at our Boston Store 6-30, I so want to go and meet him, but I think is will be bad, we’ll see.
I’m still about three episodes behind on Lost Girl but am pleased that they will be around another season. I enjoy Kensey & Bo’s sisterly camaraderie but not real sure if I like the Bo/Lauren relationship. Still mulling that one around.
Lisa, I’m with you on the Bo and Lauren relationship. I do not completely trust Lauren, but at least now we know why. Well, you will after you catch up.
Been hearing about Eureka, and I believe hubby is a fan. I will have to tell him that it starts next month. True Blood lost me at Season 2 and for some reason Lost Girl lost me. I loved the premises but something along the way just failed to keep me.
Raonaid, Eureka is airing now, and the last episode will be on 7/16.
I am sooo behind on Lost Girl! I’m going to have a little mini-marathon for myself to catch up either tongiht or Friday. So I’ll get back to you on that.
And as for True Blood, I don’t have HBO, so I always have to wait for the DVDs to come out. But because of some weird snafu with DVD deliveries(long story), I am seasons behind!
So I figured I’d just read your synopsis and see what the heck has been going on and I have to say Holy Crap! I think I might just be extra shocked after reading the most recent book. I suppose those missing seasons might also have a little something to do with it too.
Catching up with True Blood is going to take some serious effort though. Uninterrupted TV marathons this long are a hard thing to come by in my house, but I’m going to try.
I’m not sure where in the episodes we left off in this post for Lost Girl and I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone. But I caught up and I’ll just say I’m loving it!
I haven’t been watching any of them lately ’cause I always watch online and I’ve been at my mom’s for a couple of months. The internet connection is sooooo slow here.
I’ll get caught up on everything when I get home. Can you say 3 days of PJ’s and internet.
never seen Lost Girl, but True BLood can seem to be confusing at times, but love it
I do believe that Eureka is going to be a most dramaticaly ended. I don’t know what they are going to come up with but this series has always never let me down.
Since I don’t buy HBO I to have to buy the seasons DVD’s. I just like the books so I can make believe how I see every one. LOL
I do of course watch Lost Girl or as much as I can see of it. Yesterday I had to go to my grandson’s baseball tourney and was 60 miles away from home from 5:00 to midnight and got home at 1 in the morning!! The things we do for our children! I think it’s a great
Have watched all but the last episode of Lost Girls and though I miss the Bo/Dyson romance, Bo/Lauren is looking up.
So far, the thing I like best about the 5th season of True Blood is Andy and Jason. They’re hillarious as they try to navigate the dating world. I’m also kinda enjoying Jessica’s party girl escapades at the King’s mansion. I like seeing Lucy Griffiths as Eric’s vampire sister because I loved her in BBCAmerica’s Robin Hood. I’m not sure about her character on True Blood, tho. I’m hoping for a fun season!
Lost Girl: the mystery of Lauren’s girlfriend’s curse is interesting. Kenzi and Bo are great. The new Ash is shady.
Eureka: I’m hit and miss with this one. I haven’t watched it much lately.

I came in too late to True Blood to be interested enough to keep track. Maybe I will rent the series when it’s available. I tried to catch it early on but edits kept me from a schedule. I couldn’t make sense of Eureka but hubby likes it and updates me. lol Lost girls- I haven’t heard of that one.
I’m behind on this week’s True Blood episode but like you I happen to think the line from Pam about the “Wal-Mart” sweat suit was hilarious! I’m still not sure what I think about the “Authority” but Chris Meloni can do no wrong as an actor so I think he’s doing a great job. As for the Vampire Bible - I’m not sure what that’s going to reveal but I’m curious. As far as Andy and the new girlfriend - really didn’t see that coming but Andy makes me laugh because he’s really such a moron. I’m glad to see Jason acting more mature but Hoyt is just plain getting on my nerves. I don’t know what’s going to happen with Tara but I just hope Sookie and LaFayette can survive her becoming a vampire and being nuts…lol…
I love Eureka and I really hate knowing that this is the last season -so far I’ve been pleased with what they’ve been doing though I have to agree that a couple of episodes have been slow.
I love, love, love Lost Girl - I really like Bo and I feel bad for Lauren and the “coma” girlfriend but I’m not happy with Lauren or with the new leader of the “light” fae - of course I still love Kenzi, Dyson and Trick and I’m looking forward to finding out more about “Bo’s” background.
I was able to go and meet Ryan and he was soooo nice and cute
I need to start watching these. I can catch all the episodes of True Blood on HBO Go. It sounds like a great tv series. I don’t know why I haven’t watched it yet.
I need to watch more of Lost Girl. I like mysteries in storylines though not when they are dragged out. The situation will definitely affect Bo and Lauren though good or bad I guess we’ll see.
I love that we are seeing Pam’s backstory. I am looking forward to seeing where the Authority story line goes, and I love the new characters they have brought in.
I have to agree with a lot of the opinions going on here about True blood!! I love that we see Pam’s back story and more about the relationship between Eric and Pam. I also Like Tara as a vamp. and I cant wait to see what happens with the authority.
I am so behind on TB ineed to get out and buy season 3. I still think I would like it even better if I’d never read the books.
I feel so lost, I don’t watch any of these! Actually I don’t watch much tv at all nowadays, started homeschooling, and am reading so much, I don’t get to watch anything. I use to watch criminal minds though!
I am sad to see Eureka go. I have mixed feelings about where they are going with this series ending episodes. I’m waiting with bated breath for the last episode to see how they will end it and am hoping for, maybe a spin-off???
It’s sad Eureka ends, as I love it, but it was a bit obvious that the creators had no idea what direction they were going after they reset the timeline.
Does anyone know when the 3rd season of Lost Girl airs in Canada? I haven’t poked around the ‘net to find out. I was kinda on the fence about it when I first started watching, but now I’m into it.

Still about two seasons behind on True Blood but I’m catching up quickly!
I have watched Eureka and I enjoy the show though I don’t manage to watch it every week when I do I like it and find it fun to watch.
Ive never seen Lost Girl but Im so behind on True Blood. I really need to sit down and watch it.
Well, I got my daughter married this last weekend. Outdoor wedding, hotter than blue blazes, but it was pretty awesome, with the wedding in a big field with sunflowers all around, the guests sat on hay bales and got to the field via hay rides. The bride came in a 1939 Ford pickup truck driven by her dad. We finally got the house and the BBQ back to normal so I can get caught up on Lost Girl. Can’t wait to prop up my feet and relax for a few hours!
The Walmart line is cute! Now it makes me curious to watch the scene and visually see what he means.
I just watched episode 4 of True Blood & can’t wait to see how the fairies will figure in to this season!
I love finally getting some more back story on Eric, too!
Just watched the Lost Girl episode with the Selkies. Love how they continue to introduce new fae creatures each week.
I think True Blood has gotten off to a good start this year. I think its going to be interesting to see what type of role the Authority plays as the season progresses.
