  1. I’ve tried getting into audio books and it just doesn’t work for me. I need a words in front of me for me to pay attention to audio books. If I just listen I tend to fall asleep or just zone out =/

I also need to like the voice of the person reading. If it annoys me for some reason I won’t pay attention either C:

  2. 1. That is an amazing picture of you & your potential murderous child!

Do you listen to audio books?

I have just recently began using audio books & fully admit the only reason I tried it was because Kristen Bell was the one narrating the new Veronica Mars book. I also got one from Kathy Griffin.

Does the narrator factor into whether you purchase an audio book?

Yes- I only purchased the ones I have specifically because of the narrator BUT I also have a great list of audio book suggestions from one of the reviewers here that are UF/Paranormal etc. that I will at least give a shot

  3. @Mikky - I completely get that. I never listened to them either until Harry Potter. I still like reading versus listening.

@Kristin - Thanks! Heehee. It is actually my wife being herself. I can understand the Veronica Mars bit. The character narrating has to be pretty cool.

    • Oh- she looks so tiny! I can see myself doing that though as well, so good on her!

For VM- I think because there is already such a strong identity for the character based in live action, it really added to the experience of the book having her narrate. I did enjoy it though- so I am sure I will branch out :)

  4. I don’t but now that my kids are married and live a couple hours away, if I was going by myself I think I might. I like the feel of a book in my hand and flipping the pages though if I’m deep in it I don’t even realize I’m holding it, probably one reason I don’t enjoy reading as much on my Kindle.
The only way I imagine the narrator would figure in would be if it is from a TV show say Castle’s books being read by Nathan Fillion, that might make a difference

  5. I haven’t listened to too many audio books yet…I got a Colm Toibin one at the library because I wanted to hear a particular story done in an authentic Irish accent. The guy’s voice was completely wrong for it, though, and wrecked it for me. I would probably buy for a particular narrator…I’ve heard great things about Charlie David’s audio rendition of Damon Suede’s HOT HEAD, for instance, so I’m eager to nab that one!

  6. I don’t purchase audio books because I prefer to read a print copy of a book. With a print copy it is easier to go back and reread a section. If I did listen to an audio book, I would probably want to have the print copy in my hand as I followed the narration.

The narrator is definitely an important factor for anyone selecting an audio book.

Do you listen to audio books?
—-> No, I could never really find the appeal of hearing someone read to me. I enjoy reading the words myself without hending of accents orvoice infllections. Reading the words yourself invokes the picture clearer. Hearing someone read to me my mind starts to wonder and I don’t pay attention

Does the narrator factor into whether you purchase an audio book?
    No

  8. Do you listen to audio books?
    Not usually
Does the narrator factor into whether you purchase an audio book?
To a certain degree, that may make me want something…

  9. Crystal Flannery

I don’t use audio books, but if I did, the narrator would def be a big factor in it. Just the voice alone could pull u into the story, or make u not want to listen to it.

  10. To answer your question, I don’t use audio books as I’m more of a visual learner so I have to read it myself to get into it. However, if I did, I do believe the narrator would be a big factor in choosing an audio book.

  11. I haven’t listened to audio books before.
