  1. While not really a fantasy lover (hanging my head, I’ve never read any of the Tolkien books) I do like a crime caper. The fact that it takes place in Venice is another draw for me so added this series to my list.

  2. As an avid fantasy reader- (here’s where I am hanging my head Lisa) can I say I have been sitting on this book for years. I started it- but just could not get into it at all. I may have to try again- it is all over those lists of must read fantasy books- sigh. Maybe Jay can just read the whole thing :)

  3. Something is very special about this boy if the Thief Maker wants to slit his throat etc.

  4. Although I’m not familiar with this book, it does sound intriguing. I have really enjoyed some fantasy books once I got into them. I usually hesitate to start because I find it somewhat daunting to keep the characters, etc straight. I have several of Terry Patchett’s books but I haven’t read any of them yet…but I will.

  5. Jay’s rendition of the prologue is very intriguing!

  6. The combination of fantasy and crime is intriguing. I will definitely check it out.

  7. This does sound interesting, maybe a bit different. If the rest is as intriguing as the prologue then it would be something I’d enjoy reading.

  8. Ha. I hear good things about this series. I also hear the books are like tomes.
