Bitten by Books
Who are some of your favourite authors?
Minna - oh! How long do we have? LOL
My faves - autobuy for me every time - are Shannon McKenna, Josh Lanyon, Rhys Ford, Jo Davis, Maya Banks, Lori Wilde, Tiffany Reisz . . so many . . too many to count!
How do you come up with your characters? Does a hero pop into your head and say this is what I look like and this is who I want you to set me up with?
Kim - I start with a story idea first and I figure out what story I want to tell and what people would be invested in that conflict/issue. Then I look at the 12 Character Archetypes and flesh out my hero and heroine and the secondary characters. The names and what they look like are usually the last thing I come up with.
Interesting. Thank you!
Hello! I love Supernatural and Dean too. Do you have a favorite episode?
The one where Sam dies over and over . . I can’t remember the title! But it’s like Groundhog Day . . .that’s my favorite
What books have had the most influence in your writing?
Lisa - Hi! I have been a romance reader forever and I was very influenced by the greats: Beatrice Small, Julie Garwood, Judith McNaught, Nora Roberts. I devour romance and I think I’ve taken a little bit from every one I’ve read.
I don’t have a celebrity crush.
I would LOVE to see Melissa Cutler’s ICE Black Ops Defenders series made into movies. I mean reading the books made me feel like I was already watching a movie.
Tough question. Favorite summer read. I have four (at least) Hold Me Close by Shannyn Schroeder, To Tempt a SEAL by Sara Jane Stone, Neighbors with Benefits by Marissa Clarke and Blame it on the Kiss by Robin Bielman.
Kim - I will put Melissa Cutler’s books on my TBR
YES! The ICE series is one of my favorite romantic suspense series.
Congratulations on the release of your new book! Do you have any input into the selection of the man candy on your covers?
Bonnie - Yes! I get to fill out a cover art form and for this book I asked for a guy who was built like Chris Evans . . . I think the cover artist did a good job!
But I get lots of say and I am very grateful.
Author questions
Henry Cavil is so good looking!
I would love to see Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series or J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood made into a movie or tv series.
My favorite summer read this summer has been Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews.
What are your must haves for writing. Ex beverage, music, etc
Kristy - My laptop, gummi bears, diet coke and my iPod. That’s it!
Hi Robin!
Thank you so much for being a guest again on the site. I LOVED your video.
It’s always nice to have you on the site.
My question for you is; do you snack while writing and if so, what kind of treats do you like?
Rachel - I am so glad to be back. I eat Haribo Gummi Bears by the handful. All the time!
To answer your questions that are on the giveaway tools widget:
1. Who is your current celebrity crush?
Oh geez I am not big on celebrities. But I do like Shemar Moore from Criminal Minds!
Who’s your current fav celeb Robin?
My favorite is Chris Evans - I adore him and I can watch him in that Captain America suit all day long . . .
2. What book would you love to see made into a movie or TV show?
This is a hard one. I would like to see the Dresden Files come back as a TV show. And I *think* Jim Butcher may have his rights to it back now so this may become a reality some day. At least I hope it does!
What about you Robin? What do you want to see be adapted?
For me, I would love to see the Adrien English series by Josh Lanyon made into a mini-series or the Midnight series by Elle Kennedy
3. Favorite Summer read so far this year?
For me, it has been reading the Maurin Kincaide series. But there are lots more books to read before this season is out.
What has been yours so far Robin?
So far I have LOVED “On the Run” by Jo Davis. LOVED IT!!
If you could only give ONE piece of advice to newbie authors and writers, what advice do you think is the most important one to give? A pro to being a writer? A con?
Raonaid - my best advice is to make your writing time a priority and the write everyday. it’s a muscle and the more you exercise it, the easier it becomes. A pro to being a writer is getting to meet readers who have read your book and loved it. That is the best thing. So far I haven’t found a con . . I’m still in love.
Who is your current celebrity crush?
— This is sad for me to admit … anymore there is not too many nowadays that elicit a crush. I remember crushing on Antonio Banderas. Rawr. Brendan Fraser in his day. Brandon Lee, Vincent Perez. Although, I did crush on two Korean actors in a Korean-based drama Gu Family Book, Choi Jin-hyuk and Lee Seung-gi (I had to watch the other dramas he is in. That man’s lips.)
What book would you love to see made into a movie or TV show?
— First and foremost, I would love to see Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar immortalized either as a movie or animation, kinda like they did for Margaret Weiss and Tracey Hickman’s Dragonlance book (Animation is called DRAGONS OF AUTUMN TWILIGHT Lucy Lawless did the voice for the Goldmoon). I will be extra finicky who or how they portray Vanyel and Tamra…
Favorite Summer read so far this year?
—- I have to choose? That’s difficult! SECOND CHANCE SUMMER & ONE IN A MILLION & HE’S SO FINE & ITS IN HIS KISS– Jill Shalvis; HARD TO LET GO & HARD TO BE GOOD – Laura Kaye
Hi!
Wow to that cover, by the way…
What’s included within the comic book geek love?
Lois
and your questions -
- While there are a few, the fact is the longest, true crush I have had, since high school, is the one, the only Sean Connery.
- I have no idea here… I usually don’t think of that when I’m reading, so I don’t really know
- probably the books that are my favorite rereads - I reread them for a reason, obviously. LOL
Lois - yes, that cover is amazing.
I love all kinds of comics and graphic novels and have since I was a kid. I started with Archie and moved onto the Avengers, Justice League . . . i totally dig them and the current movies? I am in total love.
If you could have one magic power, what would you want it to be?
Being invisible. That would be so cool . . .
Are there any other genres you would be interested in writing ?
Michelle - I have written a paranormal and I loved it and if I ever get the time, I’ll do it again. Right now, I’m plotting an erotic romance and I am really excited about it.
What book are you reading now?
Zonell - I am reading “One True Thing” by Piper Vaughn and M.J. O’Shea. Its a male/male romance and really fun and romantic. After that, I have a ‘Opening Up” by Lauren Dane waiting for me.
what is your favorite part of being a Author?
Stacey- meeting readers. I absolutely love meeting readers who love my books and want to talk about books.
Who is your favorite Muppet and why?
Miss Piggy! She was such a brash, obnoxious diva. I love her ridiculousness.
What stand-alone novel that you’ve read do you wish had a sequel?
Fox - now that is a hard question because I can’t really remember the last time I read a book that didn’t have a sequel but I think if I dig way back it would have to be “Zero at the Bone” by Jane Seville. I would have loved to see how those characters had their HEA
1) He’s so lovely that I’m only slightly abashed to admit my current celeb crush is personal trainer by day/Cockyboys adult star by night Tayte Hanson!
2) Damon Suede’s HOT HEAD would have to be on pay cable (at least), but between the fire sequences, the 9/11 stuff, and all the hot, hot manlove, it feels so cinematic!
3) Samantha Ellis’s HOW TO BE A HEROINE was totally engaging…she’s one of those voracious readers who absolutely loves/devours everything from old-school smut to the classics, and has really informed and entertaining opinions on the female protagonists in all of the books. Her own life story is briefly touched upon here and there, and is fascinating too!
Trix - I love Levi Michaels!
Hi Robin and Congratulations! I enjoyed your video and I want to thank you for watching the movies over and over~no sacrifice too great for your readers, right? Have a great time at the beach with your family! My question for you is: Who’s your all-time favorite book character?
1. Daniel Craig comes to mind…
2. Wow! That’s a tough question! I’d like to see another Jason Bourne movie (based on one of Robert Ludlum’s books).
3. THE PLOUGHMEN by Kim Zupan~so beautifully written that it was a pleasure to read.
My all-time fave hero was Nick Ward in Shannon McKenna’s Extreme Danger
Great choice! Thank you!
If you could go anywhere for research, where would it be?
Australia!!!!!!
If you could have three folks to dinner living, dead, real, or imaginary who would they be and why.
Pamk - Ohhhh . .. .I would invite Lisa Gardner so that I could pick her brain about writing romantic suspense and Jane Austen because I would love to see what she thought about women in modern society.
From any of your books, what has been one of your favorite scenes, or types of scenes, to write?
Lindsey - Oe of my favorite scenes from another book I would have to say it would be any of the scenes with “The Boys” in the Southern Comfort Diner in The Boys are Back in town series. I love that diner and they are always giving each other hilarious shit.

If you weren’t writing, what would you do?
I have always needed a creative outlet so I would paint or do needlework. I still do both of those things in my spare time.
I still work full-time as an attorney, so writing is my 2nd job!
How do you decide if a book is going to be a stand alone or part of a series?
Mary - Honestly it depends on whether I want to stay in the world, if it still interests me. Although, sometimes it isn’t my decision. If I write a book as part of a series for my publisher, then they decide.
I l ok ‘ve thus Men of Zodiac series with Book 1 Impulse Control. I have The Colonel’s Daughter, with its what I call A FORBIDDEN FRUIT SYNDROME & I also got your book because I love me some PRINCES & I am PROUD LIBRA, too. I really don’t have a Movie Star Crush be cc cause I really live in books, but some KILT WEARING GODDNESS with Daniel Craig, Piece Bronson or even Sean Connery would be YUMMINESS! Hey, 007 is in books, too. Now that what book I to a movie or TV show is MEGA HARD because it seem to be A BOOK INTO MOVIE CENTURY, but I would k d want a great hilarious historical based on either Lisa Klepyas, Karen Ranney, Julia Quinn, Cathy Maxwell & so many others. Or a SEX PARANORMAL based on any if Shelly Laurenston’s shifters books. Or a sexy thriller based on, I don’t know ok e, Men of the Zodiac series. I was helping my ill dad in HUMIDITY HADES Virginia & surrounded by h u s pack of SENIOR DISCOUNTERS that I loving call THE 4 AMIGOS & romance novels are not th heir favorite. I was reading THE STRONGEST STEEL by Scarlett Cole & it’s was about an abused woman who wanted her SCARRED BACK covered by a whole back tattoo. It was so gripping that I had to share it with THE 4 AMIGIS at IHOP, Let just say that THEY WANT JUDGE A COVER BY ITS COVER OF INK!
