  1. Oh jeese, it was so hard to pick one! I ended up going with the Dresden Files, though, because whenever I try to get a friend interested in urban fantasy, one of the series I ALWAYS tell them to read is the Dresden Files. ;) It’s pretty much an urban fantasy classic, don’t you think?

  2. I voted for Argeneau Vampires by Lynsay Sands because I enjoy her writing style and Characters, and it’s a series set in Toronto, Ontario which I love seeing as I’m in Ontario as well!

  3. I voted for Goergina Kinkaid serie. Richelle Mead is totally my favorite author! her caracters are always fun and cleaver, I laugh out loud when reading, and suspense is always great. I even cried more then one =P
    Much Love to Richelle =D

  4. My top two favorites are Southern Vampires by Charlaine Harris and Argeneau Vampires by Lynsay Sands. But since sadly there’s only on pick on the polls. I ultimately go with the Southern Vampires Series.

  5. Out of all those series, I’ve only read 2 all the way through. So I went with Kate Daniels. I love the series!

  6. Okay this is going to be very hard — I am going to have to give this some thought before I vote. Can’t we have a 3 tie… then it wouldn’t be so hard.

  7. I love The Dresden Files (not that I don’t read and love many of these other series, too). The character of Harry Dresden is both unique and very “everyman” and the various sidekicks are amazing. I found the series through the TV show (short-lived, alas) but then the books got me hooked forever.

  8. The Southern Vampires by Charlaine Harris is a great series. The bad guys aren’t always the really bad guys. With shifters / weres, vampires, fairies, and fae folk to name a few of the supernatural community keeps you on your toes to figure out if the bad guys are human or not.

  9. My favourite series would be Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead, rather than her Georgia Kincaid series, although I love that too, so my vote went to Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels series, which is easily a very close second.

  10. Raonaid Luckwell

Ehhhh, dunno if I can vote because my absolutely favorite series did not make the poll, and out of all that are in the poll, I’ve only read two author/series but hideously behind on the series because well I have my other favorites that I choose first over them. (though most of those on the polls are on my “to try” list).

  11. This is going to be harder than I thought….I love so many of these series! John Taylor of The Nightside…Georgina Kincaid…Harry Dresden…Rachel and Ivy of the Hollows. All of these series are great! Will have to sleep on it before voting. Sure we can’t have a 4-way tie? ;)

  12. I voted for The Breed Series by Lora Leight, but there were so many good ones it was hard to decide.

  13. Uuh, what a hard decision. I ranged between The Argeneau Vampires and the Psy-changelings.
But then I voted for the Psy-Changelings because I love to read about wolfs and panthers and how difficult it is for the psy to get back there emotions.

  14. Wow, this was really hard! There’s a lot of great series out there, but I ended up voting for LKH’s Anita Blake series. They are what really got me into the paranormal genre and Anita is the original bad-ass that many others are modeled after.

  15. I voted for Kate Daniels. Go Curran lol

  16. My favorite series was sadly not part of the list, but I understand that a line has to be drawn somewhere! There are so many good series being written right now.

I voted for the Dresden Files because I have a secret crush on Harry Dresden. Plus, this series continually surprises me. At first, I did not really like the series and it wasn’t until book 4 that I fell in love. Jim Butcher is one of those rare authors were the series continues to gain momentum, the story stays on track, but at the same time, the readers learn more and more about each of the characters. I laugh, I cry, and I always want more Harry when the book is done.

  17. Voted for the Kate Daniel series! It has all the elements that I love in a paranormal setting. Sexy, funny, serious, and romance. Did I mention sexy? :P

  18. I had a heck of a time choosing between Charlaine Harris and Kim Harrison, but ended up going with Kim. I have a longstanding fascination with spell casters, and I think the Rachel and Ivy relationship, while sometimes frustrating, is really original. Thanks!

  19. Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews all the way!

  20. well, this one was pretty easy. Even though I love Charlaine Harris and Richelle Mead, and I am just starting the House of Night series, I REALLY love the Kim Harrison Hollows series, so that is where my vote goes! Good luck to all the nominees. I

  21. yay, someone took my mortal instruments suggestion! and i voted for it! YAY. it’s very different and original! <3 can’t wait for the Infernal Devices!

  22. Nalini Singh FTW! I looooooove that series:)

  23. Patricia Barraclough

I voted for Charlaine Harris. It was a hard decision, but I prefer something a little lighter with serious action and plot twists. There are a lot of good authors and series on that list. They are all winners.

  24. I’m Gonna Have To Vote For The House Of Night Series!!!
Only Because I Haven’t Read The Mortal Instruments Series…(Which I Will Get To Reading ASAP!!!

  25. Voted for the Southern Vampire series! Love this series, it was my pick out of the two series in the preliminary suggestions.

Looking at the poll, it reminds me how sorely behind I am on the different series out there. :(

  26. ooh, another hard choice :( I think I have to go with… Kate Daniels. Ilona Andrews rocks and the Kate Daniels series gets better and better with every installment. There is a lot of great nominees up there though, and I love at least half of those series :D

  27. I voted for Georgina Kincaid by Richelle Mead. I love, Love, LOVE this series. I have read it twice & I can’t wait to read book 4! Signed copy on the way in the mail. Richelle has a fantastic ability of making characters extremely relatable, thus giving us the ability to care about them & what happens to them. So go team Richelle!

  28. Cheryl McInnis

This is a very hard list to choose from; They are all amazing series’….serieses…series’sss ??? Anywhoo- I ended up voting for Lora Leigh’s Breeds, mainly because of the very hot sex. Sorry, but that is where my priorities are! ;- )

  29. love the psy-changeling series by Nalini. Totally different and every book thus far totally rocked.

  30. Oh geez… talk about a difficult choice. I love the Anita Blake books… and the Hollows series as well. Lyndsay Sands, Charlaine Harris… heck, how can I decide? However, I did finally choose and went for Harry Dresden all the way. The poor guy has a heart of gold and the worst luck on the planet. And yet? He continues plugging along and doing the best he can. Oh, and he also has the world’s best entourage! LOL

  31. I voted Southern Vampire series, Charlaine Harris. It’s the one series in the list I’ve read all the way through and I absolutely love it.

  32. I have to go with Jim Butcher’s DRESDEN FILES series. But, Cassie Clare’s MORTAL INSTRUMENTS trilogy is a very close second.

  33. I like most of this list. Some I have not read and will have to check into. My Favorite would have to be Kim Harrison’s Hollows series with a close 2nd tie with LKH and Charlaine Harris and Lora Leigh’s Breeds. many goods series to choose from.

  34. I voted for Dresden Files, because that’s the only series I’ve read of the available choices. So… yeah. XD

  35. Love all those series! But, it’s between Richelle Mead, Ilona Andrews, and Nalini Singh. Even though i’m reading the newsest Georgina book i just got, i’m gunna have to go with Ilona Andrews. But i’m happy with any of them winning. Good luck.

  36. I voted Kate Daniels simply because it’s the one I like best.

  37. I voted for the Georgina Kincaid Series by Richelle Mead. Richelle is one of my favorite authors. I love her writing style. I also really relate to Georgina’s personality. Richelle seems to mix up the emotions constantly, it keeps the reader on the edge of our seats!!! Go Richelle!!!

  38. Jo (aka Raven Darkblade in BBBforums)

I voted for Southern Vampires by Charlaine Harris without evening thinking about it, because I’m completely attached to Sookie, Bill and Eric. With every new book, Charlaine manages to build on my already existing connections. For me, reading the Southern Vampire Mysteries is like watching a daily soap opera :o) I’m addicted! Bravo Charlaine.

On that note though, I’ve read a few other series on the voting poll this week, and they too are pretty decent! Had Charlaine’s series not been on there, I’d have been hard pushed to choose my fav!!!

  39. What a hard choice! I love the Breed series, The Psy series, The house of the Night series, And Sookie rocks! But I had to go with Psy-Changelings by Nalini Singh, each one is a little different and I am just fascinated by that world!

  40. KATE DANIELS!! Hard choice, but I totally love me some Curran!!

Don’t get me wrong though…I also love Charlaine Harris, Richelle Mead, LKH, and PC/Kristen Cast…like a lot…but you gotta go with your fav in difficult situations like this…lol

  41. Omg! That was hard. I have read every series listed. And some of these are on my keeper shelves. I have to go with Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. It was a close one as I adore the Psy/Changeling series by Nalini Singh series as it is so original. However, Kate Daniels series wins simply because I have hit the “I must have it now” level on each book. Like before it is released. So it is torture on the wait. Not many series has that effect on me, but it does. Plus, the ending of each book builds up the tension on the relationship aspect of will he or won’t he. It has serious issues, but it also has lots of humor and even good examples of love and loyalty. A nice blend of urban fantasy, action and romance (without overwhelming the previous two).

Man, you have no idea how hard it was to choose between the two. So not fair.

  42. It was an easy choice for me. Love the Kate Daniels series actually I think its more of an obsession. There are some fantastic nominees though!

  43. Argh, I went with Georgina Kincaid by Richelle Mead. But Dresden, and the Hollows, and Kate Daniels!!! Oh, I love all of them. It was so unfair making me choose like that. *pout*. ;-)

  44. This was a difficult decision for me since I’m a huge fan of the Dresden Files, the Nightside, and the Hollows. After some thought, I finally had to go with the Nightside because it’s the one with the most interesting cast to me. I’m fascinated with John Taylor’s abilities.

  45. The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher is my fave hands down! This series always keeps me on the edge of my seat from page 1 to the last page! I love the humor and technical descriptions. I love everything about this series. And it’s totally not fair to make us choose. “SIGH” But good luck to all in the contest. ;)

  46. Kate Daniels hands down. Next June can’t get here fast enough.

  47. Jim Butcher’s “Dresden Files” Defintly, I hadn’t even heard of the series until around the time the tv series was about to start and I think I saw a web advertisement for it that mentioned the books, so I was curious and checked them out, it quickly converted me from a Harry Potter fan to a Butcher Fan. I’ve reread all of the books through Small Favor at least 3 times, and Turn coat I am about to finish my second reading soon. The books always leave me on the edge of my seat in anticipation of what will happen next. Also if anyone is a Butcher fan and hasn’t read his Alera Codex series you should really check them out, they are just as well written, just are a Fantasy setting as opposed to Ubran and not your typical Fantasy world, also he will be ending that series with the next book due out this fall I want to say, not sure about that though.

I havn’t admittedly read all of the authors mentioned up there but of the ones I have read Butcher is defintly my favorite. The Hollows or Kate Daniels would be my next choice, I havn’t read all of the Kate Daniels series yet.. still need to read book 3.

  48. I love the Psy series by Nalini Singh. It is just so different and interesting. The characters are so complex

    Kayanne

  49. Voted for Kim Harrisons “Hollows” series because am fascinated with the dynamics in the characters relationships … I am a fan of all paranormal adventures but especially love series books because it develops all the characters for me over time and it is an imaginative soap opera on paper… Hard to choose only one, but Miss Kim is my favorite for the last few years and good luck all in the contest….

  50. Between Kim, Charlaine, Richelle and Ilona I’m having a very hard time choosing. But, for the sake of the poll, I choose Kate Daniels - mostly because I just read an awesome snippet from book 4 over on Ilona’s blog and she’s got me drooling for more.

  51. definetly Georgina Kincaid by Richelle Mead!!! ?

  52. Richelle Mead’s Georgia Kincaid series totally gets my vote! I love that series :)

  53. I voted for Lora Leigh’s Breed Series. I absolutely can’t get enough of her books. Nalini’s Psy-Changeling Series comes in at a close 2nd place.

  54. I had a hard time choosing. My top favorites were Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files, Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampires, and Kim Harrison’s Hollows. I’ve read ALL of them several times… They’re kind of like my best friends, I like to visit them often. *grin*

  55. I voted for Lora Leigh’s BREEDS because they are so sensually and sexually hot. I just LOVE them

  56. I voted for Lora Leigh’s Breed series because the woman knows how to tell a story and give you heroes and heroines that will make you melt and cry and cheer for a happy ending.

I must say, though, Nalini’s Psy series is a very close second. If I hadn’t been a Lora fan-girl first, who knows how I might have voted.

They’re both excellent authors and I can highly recommend both series to readers!

  57. Southern Vampires series by Charlaine Harris. :) Gotta love them.

  58. I would have voted for Richelle Mead, but I don’t like her Georgina Kincaid series. I voted for Ilona Andrew’s Kate Daniels series instead.

  59. I voted for The Hollows by Kim Harrison. That and PC Cast’s books are the only 2 I’ve read from that list. I prefer The Hollows, the books are faster paced,Great characters, better plot.

  60. Had to be Kate Daniels, its brilliant and addictive. I also like the hollows series, but some parts made me want to chuck the book across the room.

  61. Elizabeth Hull

This was easy. I vote for Ilona’s Kate Daniel series. The books lift the urban fantasy genre onto a whole new level by a different and very entertaining approach. If this were not enough, the characterization is superb.

  62. I don’t suppose abstaining is an option? There are at least THREE series I want to vote for. :(

  63. Gotta hand it to Ms. Harris. I love the Sookie Stackhouse series.

  64. Kate Daniels for sure - what’s not to love about this wisecracking, snarky kick ass heroine… I like the others too, but the vote had to go to Kate!

  65. I also voted for the Kate Daniel series. I really enjoy the spin the gives on shape-shifters and the whole magic aspect.

  66. I voted for “The Hollows” series. I love Kim Harrison’s books. It was hard to chose bcause I also love the Dresden Files books and Yasmine Galenorn’s books. Yasmine’s weren’t in the poll (not right!) And between the other two I chose my next favorite!

  67. KATE DANIELS is the BEST series of all the ones listed. Kate is a fantastically fun character with personality flaws that make her feel REAL and ALIVE but not annoying. As Shannon commented earlier, she’s “snarky” and definitely “kick ass” and the language in the series is so beautifully and carefully crafted that the entire world becomes vividly real. Kate’s struggles, her tenacity, her moral dilemmas, her friendships, and her spitfire personality deserve the win, hands down. And the tension between her and Curran… oh oh oh!

  68. Hee! I voted for Jim Butcher! Man I just love the Dresden series. I have all of the books, well except the newest one, and I even have the DVD of the series when it was out on Sci Fi.

There are a lot of good authors up there, but Jim is one of the ones who I will run to the store and buy the second that the book hits the stands. The world he created for Harry Dresden is just so amazing! And you really get to love the characters

  69. There are too many of my favoritea in this poll. I’ve read more than a few of these. I love the Southern Vampire Series. It’s like a softer Anita Blake. I also absolutely love the Anita Blake series, it was what introduced me to the paranormal romance/urban fantasy genre. But one series just trumps all the others. It’s the Kate Daniels series. The character and the world of magic and tech is just so imaginative. Also, I have never read so many hilarious and witty lines. My favorite has to be “Should I slap some man into him?” That one is just priceless. Also, Curran is just soooooooooooooo, let’s just say Ilona Andrews has me dying for more! I am counting down the days until next JUNE! *sigh*

  70. I vote for the Georgina Kincaid series! I love Richelle Mead’s books, there’s always action and plenty of romance.

  71. Although I do like the House of Night Series, The Georgina Sparks series is my favorite of all the options. Richelle Mead’s characters are always so realistic (as realistic as fantasy characters can be). The heroine isn’t always perfect, and doesn’t always get her wishes, but you just can’t help but love her anyways!

  72. Janice DiMarco

Im torn between the 5 or 6 series that I have read. Anita Blake, Southern Vampires, Argeneau Vamps, Kim Harrison’s the Hollows and the Dresden Files. And considering the weekend I’ve had trying to paint the kitchen, my brain and everything else is dead… so my choice is…..all of them! :)… Oh what I have to choose one..crap.. Argeneau it has to be. Lighthearted for the most part, lots of parts to make me giggle and non taxing on the brain for days like today!

  73. HOUSE OF NIGHT!!! I LOVE THAT SERIES! But I also love Richelle Mead.

  74. Id have to go with the georgina kincaid series but this was a majorly hard decision!

  75. Charlaine Harris - Southern Vampire Mystery

Such a wonderfully told story- the right amount of suspense, comedy, drama, and romance!
I enjoyed these books from start to finish and couldn’t wait to read the next! I have read other Vampire series books- however, it was just to kill time in between Sookie Stackhouse release dates.
I was so thrilled when they decided to make a tv show out of it!
Great read! I suggest this to anyone who likes Vampires.

  76. Shell the HOckeyvampiress

Don’t know who I want to vote for yet….. major hard one…. Left message on PC’s facebook…. Will be back when I figure out my vote….

  77. I voted for Richelle Mead’s Georgina Kincaid series. This series is my absolute favorite period. And I can’t wait to get started on the next book! Comes out tomorrow!

  78. I voted for Kate Daniels because it’s got terrfic writing and Kate’s character is such a joy-smart, tough, funny. Plus (of course) there is CURRAN!!! I was sad the Mercy Thompson books by Patricia Briggs weren’t even a choice, though.

  79. I voted Kate because, she always has me laughing.
I liked the early Anita books but then they got. . . .uhmmm uhm, very very sexed based and lost plot, but I love them still anyways.

  80. Richelle mead! It was so hard to choose but in the end her books are my first choice.

  81. oooh, for me, it’s between mortal instruments and georgina kincaid succubus series…. toughie… but i think for my official vote i’ll go with georgina; i love the series and all the books get me so emotional and i get so into the story and the characters, all of which are unpredictable in a good way

  82. This was a very tough choice! I guess I have to go with the Georgina Kincaid series. Although I adore Lynsay Sands’ kookie Argeneau Vamps and HON is one of my faves as well, Georgina’s adventures are probably the most creative. I wish I could give my vote to all three however!

  83. I voted for Argeneau Vampires by Lynsay Sands, I am a huge fan of Lynsay. she has put a twist on the usual vampire story and has made the Argeneau family and friends become real. Her books are full of mystery, love and humor what more could you ask for?

  84. I had to vote for the Hollows!!! I love Kim Harrison’s work…it rocks!!!

  85. I had to vote for the Anita Blake series. They were the first of this genre that i read. I know they get a lot of static for the sex in them, but it is part of the plot and oh so much fun. Great mix of the fighting / weapons / sex / paranormal / emotional interest. I just love them.

  86. Not all of my fav’s are here, either. But two of my top 5 are. I voted for Lynsay Sands’ Argeneau series though the Nalini Singh Psy-Changling series is a very close second. The Argeneaus won my vote because I enjoy laughter as well as yummy heroes and Lynsay provides many of both.

  87. AAAAAA…..this is just too hard. I really have to pick just one? I think I am going to have to put names in a hat to pick……..

  88. This is almost painful….it is like trying to pick a favorite pet(child for those of you w/ children) or body part…..

  89. It was really really hard to choose. I ended up going with The Hollows because it was one of the first series I picked up when I started all things paranormal in reading. And I still try to read every book in it as it comes out.

  90. House of Night by P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast all the way!! It’s totaly packed full! Crazy love triangles, action, creepy things lurking in the dark, crazy demon God, there’s just so much!!

    Zoey & Stark 4 life!!

  91. Georgina Kincaid by Richelle Mead

Richelle is my favourite author of all time and I love this series as much as Vampire Academy!

    :)

  92. Had to go with Kate Daniels

    gotta love Curran =]

  93. My favorite is The Dresden Files, but The Hollows is a close second. The other series are all pretty good too. We have such good taste around here. : )

  94. I have a special place in my heart for Sookie Stackhouse and so the Southern Vampires it will be. This is a hard one though!

    -Katee

  95. this was hard. i have read most of these and choosing was not easy. the kate daniels series has me frothing for more though, so i had to go with it. i read those books in a disturbingly short time that i will never admit to. ;)

  96. Voted for PC Cast. <3

  97. I voted for the Kate Daniels series because I love the suspense and action and character interactions…plus they post snippets of the upcoming stories that keep me hooked. They’re just awesome.

  98. Kate Daniels. You have to give her points for awesomeness and resisting to Curran :)

  99. OK I have it narrowed down to 6…. LOL Anita, Argeneau, Georgina, House, Hollows and Breeds….how long do I get to decide…. maybe I will kick off one a day until I end up with my vote…. ;)

  100. voted for Nalini Singh’s Psy/changling series!
I love her alphas & her heroines aren’t prissy!
I also enjoy the world she’s built!

  101. Just loved the Argeneau series, and have voted accordingly.

  102. Lynsay Sands Argeneau Vampires always win my vote! Never have I read another series with such an interesting premise that could make me laugh so much, constantly be surprised by the next twist, and feel satisfied with each romantic happily-ever-after at the end of every book. Lynsay has become my favorite author, and every book in the Argeneau Vampires series is different and on my keeper shelf forever. Lynsay always keeps the series fresh and entertaining, and it’s never formulaic…she never writes the same story twice and I’m always eagerly anticipating the next book. There were a lot of good authors and series listed that I have enjoyed reading and a few other favorites that I would have liked to have seen on the list, but…as far as voting goes…my heart belongs to those yummy, sexy Argeneaus and the amazing talent of author Lynsay Sands! :-)

  103. My vote goes to Nalini Singh’s Psy series. Love her characters, the cold Psy, the feeling changelings and the humans, a sentient Net Mind, and she does a great job with world building. Romance and emotions with a main H/h in each book, with appearances by the cast of characters which don’t detract from that couple’s story, moving along the intriguing series plot. She keeps your interest in the plot, guessing along and waiting for the next.

  104. This was a really tough poll. I choose Nalini Singh but she was not my only favorite. I like the majority of the authors listed.

  105. I voted for the House Of Night series, because I’m re-re-re-reading it at the moment. It’s still awesome (even for the 4th time going. :D )
Although it was a really tough choice between that and the Georgina Kincaid series by Richelle Mead.
I love Richelle Meads work, but P.C + Kristin Cast just have my vote on this one (:

  106. I haven’t read nay of these yet, yikes. But my vote goes for Psy-Changeling by Nalini Singh. Cos I like Nalini, she is nice. And I have been eyeing her books a long time

  107. Kate FTW~! She’s all kickass without the angst. ^_^

  108. Voted for Dresden Files, Can’t get over mummy T rex.

  109. I feel bad, most of the series listed are still on my TBR list. (My goal for the summer is to make more of a dent. I used to read so much more! I am trying to get out of this funk. By funk, I mean that it is taking me longer than a few days tops to read a book. But I DO have 3+ going at once. Maybe that is the problem! ;) ) I am going to go with The Dresden Files. I have seen the series and am a newcomer to the books, but I’ve recommended it to many many friends. I have to go with that one!

    :)

  110. I’ve only read two of the listed series.
I’ve heard about Mortal Instruments and that’s at the top of my ‘to read’ list.
SO I’m going to have to go with the Georgina Kincaid Series.
House of Night was nice but it just didn’t really roll with me.
My sister, on the other hand, loves it

  111. I voted for The Hallows. Kim has such a talent for creating a paranormal world that blends so nicely with the normal world it seams totally real. I do love the Georgina Kincaid series too but if I was stranded on an island, I would want The Hallows with me. :0)

  112. Ooooh.
I’ve just read a blurb about the Kate Daniels series and it sounds really good. The whole mercenary thing reminds me of my love for Amelia Atwater-Rhode’s books.

  113. Elizabeth Hamlyn

I’ve been a huge fan on PC Cast Kristin Cast’s House of Night Series since it came out. By far the greatest vampyre novels I have ever read. Twilight got nothing on this series. just read it and trust me you will fall in lvoe with Zoey’s world too.

  114. GEORGINA KINCAID!
Absolutely love the series and have some deep, somewhat odd crush on Carter. :)
    Richelle completely deserves the win!

  115. Wow…. this one is tough!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are so many great authors that gave life to so many fascinating series.

I will say Southern Vampires by Charlaine Harris.

  116. Psy-Changeling by Nalini Singh - love, love this series!

  117. I went for the Southern Vampire Mysteries. It makes me sad that The Vampire Chronicles wasn’t mentioned. :(

  118. Man, this wasn’t easy, too many really good series listed there. Anyways, I went with House of Night by PC and Kristin Cast . Truly fabulous stories.

    Valerie

  119. Georgina Kincaid by Richelle Mead
House of Night by P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast
    Argeneau Vampires by Lynsay Sands
these are some of the best series i have ever read and i have to say that they each have their own kind of fabulousity to them you check them out….YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!!!!

  120. GO KATE DANIELS!!!!!

    I LOVE that series….

  121. Hey did we ever find out who won last weeks poll contest?

  122. How am I supposed to choose between some of these absolutely amazing series? You are just too cruel!
I’m torn between Georgina Kincaid and the Hollows. Will have to come back later to decide…

  123. Oooh tough, voted Georgina Kincaid series. Tough choice against Mortal Instruments!!

  124. go team hollows!!!
it was a tough choice though!!very close,to close ohhhh the pain i wish i could vote more than once….
    1-the hollows
    1-southern vampire mysterys
    3-anita blake
    my top three!
    becca
    uk

  125. Kate Daniels (and Curran) - series I had to rearead few times and can’t wait to read more

  126. I don’t think I can choose here, too many of my favorite series are on that list which makes it impossible to chose just one, Joey W Hill’s Vampire Queen series, the Dresden Files, the Nightside, House of Night. I wish it was possible to vote twice, which would make it a lot easier lol

    *let met think some more

it’s a tie between the Dresden files and the Vampire Queen. They are two different kind of series, and since the Dresden Files so far has gotten more votes then I’ll give mine to Joey W Hill’s Vampire Queen. I just love Jacob in the faire scene in Mark of the Vampire Queen

  127. I vote for the Dresden files - Jim Butcher’s my favorite! My second choice is Southern Vampire, for whatever that’s worth!

    gaby317nyc AT gmail DOT com

  128. Wow. Once again there were several series I enjoyed on the poll. But I had to go with my most frequently re-read and pushed one…Kate Daniels but Ilona Andrews! Good luck!

  129. Wow it’s a really hard choice but I picked Southern Vampires by Charlaine Harris.

  130. I must have gotten in here just after the new poll was posted. I’m proud to say I was the first person to pin a vote in there for the Dresden files. Even on re-reads the Dresden files are fun with even more depth and richness to the individual books and the series with each go. Each book somehow manages to be even better and they all tie together beautifully, because of Jim’s great advanced planning.

  131. It’s really not fair to make me choose. I mean really. They are all soooo good. Okay, so a few years ago it would have been Anita Blake by Laurell K. Hamilton… but now I am thinking… a tie between Southern Vampires by Charlaine Harris & The Hollows by Kim Harrison… I just finished reading White Witch, Black Curse…

  132. Wooo! C’mon Jim!

  133. Kate Daniel series by Ilona Andrews! This series has everything, the right blend of romance, action and LOL moments. Love it!

  134. You know I keep looking to get the Ilona Andrews books and I never get the chance! Looks interesting though

  135. Georgina Kincaid (although wishing luck to the Dresden Files also)

  136. GOD! It was so hard between Ilona, Simon R Green and Jim Butcher. I enjoy all three a lot. ><

  137. I voted for The Sookie Stackhouse (Southern Vampires) series. I am up to book 4 of this series and I just can’t get enough of it. It is the perfect mix of action, comedy and romance!!

  138. I went with Dresden Files, but it was hard to pick over Nightside and Psy-Changelings…

  139. how can i pick between Laurell and Charlaine :O i love them Both, but i can only vote for one, sorry Laurell, charlaine it is :(
    Vampire Thief

  140. I had to go with the House of night Series. I love it and so does my daughter! Lots of good series on the list though. This one was tough.

  141. ARGH!!! Another poll where I read at least 5 or 6 of the series.

    Breeds/Anita/Psy\Changeling/Harry/NIghtside/Hollows

Anyone have a 6 sided coin I can toss??

OOHH this is SOOOOOOOOOOOO hard ……… Ok I guess I’ll go with Nalini and her Psy/Changeling series

  142. I voted for Argeneau Vampires by Lynsay Sands because I enjoy her style of writing, her humour and real and lovable characters (as real as vampires can be). Also, her series is set in Canada which is refreshing after all USA scenery in other novels (no disregard intended to USA)

  143. Have to go for Nalini Singh’s Psy changeling series. It has everything - wolves, big cats, AI, psy -mindbenders, humans, intrigue & romance. It is a series I have read several times (and its still in production, with a few books still to come)& it just keeps getting better. Trying to guess where its going next is exciting & thought provoking. Just love it.

  144. George the Girl

I had a really hard time choosing because I love most of those! But the one I have been following the longest has been Kim Harrison’s series…it was the first of all of those that I read, so it has a special place…it got my vote!

  145. Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews! Ilona has made a bewitching series, I love that Kate is kick ass, but that she has flaws and knows her flaws and tries hard to overcome them. This is one of the first urban fantasy series where I have read the books over and over and still find something “new” with each reading. Go Kate!

  146. My all time favourite wasn’t on the list but I found it hard to choose between the others. Eventually went for Anita Blake because hers was the first books I read of that genre. So its her fault I am addicted to reading these kinds of books.

  147. Where’s Sherrilyn Kenyon? With the number 1 vampire series in the nation and in history, she should be at the top of this list.

    http://www.publishersweekly.com/article/CA6660125.html?q=sherrilyn+kenyon

  148. I voted for Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling. Love her characters.

  149. PC Cast’s House of Night was awesome. The best of the best of the best, sir- as Will Smith says.

  150. Beverly G (USA)

ill have to go with the dresdine files awesome book series awesome tv series

  151. 100% house of night!! I absolutely love the series well I’ve only read the first three because Im to scared to ask the one person I know that has the rest and live far away from the nearest bookstore!!! (that really bums me out(and why isn’t VA on here)

  152. Hey Voodoo Goddess, they put all the candidates through a random number generator. These were the ones that popped out. I was thinkin the same thing, though.

Still! Jim is a good second!

  153. I voted for the Mortal Instruments series. I love it. They are the best books ever. I hope it wins.

  154. That was hard! I’ve been reading, and loving, the Southern Vampires Mysteries and Dresden Files series for years. I finally went with Sookie.

  155. I have fallen in love with Anita Blake. I can’t wait to read some of the other series listed.

  156. Geogina Kincaid series are FANTASTIC, best series!!!!!

  157. I went with Argeneau Vampires by Lynsay Sands. There is always a new twist. When you think you know something, bam Lynsay throws something else at you. Eagerly awaiting her next story. The Argeneau’s are not you everyday “vampires”. Good Luck Lynsay..

  158. This one was easy, Kim Harrison all the way!

  159. Ok, I’ve gone for the Hollows.

  160. Heather Brewer

I voted. I picked Lora Leigh’s Breed series. She writes some of the most well written books for the quantity produced every year. I love her stuff.

Close 2nd would be the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh, then the Hollows by Kim Harrison and Sookie by Charlaine Harris.

Can’t believe JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood didn’t make the cut.

  161. It was hard to decide! But I’ve finally chosen Georgina Kinkaid by Richelle Mead, I absolutely love that serie. Can’t wait to see the results!

  162. I had to go for the Kate Daniels series. I love all the characters and despite everything that is against them and after them they all come together for the greater good.

Of course, Southern Vampire was a very close second…

  163. It’s really hard cause there area a bunch of really good series up there

  164. Kate daniels are the best ive ever read

  165. Psy-Changling series get my vote. The books are really clever, inventive, great characters, great stories, and a one-of-kind idea. Most definitely my favorite!!!

  166. I see three of my auto buy authors her, Lora Leigh, Joey Hill and LKH, so it was tough to narrow it down to just one. They each have a unique storyline and suit my needs in different ways depending on my mood. If I had to pick one it would LKH’s, Anita Blake Series. She got my hooked on urban fantasy/paranormal stories and I’ve been inhaling them ever since. This series gives me shifters, vamps, a seriously kick ass heroine (probably my first), and the storyline still keeps me intrigued.

  167. Richelle Mead is my favorite author, and as such I voted for her Georgina Kincaid series. They are funny, suspenseful, and sexy, and the combination makes for a read!

  168. Eee! Jim is in Fourth! Woo go Jim!

  169. I voted for the Kate Daniels series. I have re-read each of the 3 released books at least 3 times, and they never get stale. Kate’s world is clever, the characters are engaging, and the dialogue is hilarious without being campy.

  170. Of the series I am read in, I have to go Dresden Files. Not sure if that would really change at all, depends on the contenders I suppose.

  171. Done - top two for me are Anita Blake (put in for) and Dresden Files.

  172. I voted for my all time favorite author Lora Leigh and her Breeds Series.

  173. I definetly voted for House of Night. i love that series although i also read Vampire Academy. Both are really really good, but alas only one made the list

  174. Oh, so many great series and I have read some books of all but three of these Series - I voted for Harry Dresden. Chiefly because I love Mouse! My second choice would have been between The Hollows and House of Night -

  175. I voted Lora Leigh, The Breeds. I haven’t read some of the other authors. They are on my to read list.

  176. It was so hard to choose! I finally decided on Kim Harrison’s Hollows series for the unusual take on vampirism and alternate reality. However, just about any one of these series would be a great winner.

  177. The Kate Daniels series has to win this one!! I just love her characters. They are always on by auto-buy list!

  178. I voted for the mother daughter duo, P.C. and Kristin Cast. Those books rock, but why wasn’t the Vampire Academy series nominated for Richelle Mead? Those books are the best out of any of the others.

  179. Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series. Definitely.

  180. I had to vote for Georgina Kincaid by Richelle Mead, because those books rock. A succubus that wants to have sex with one man but can’t because she loves him, thats just awesome. She writes great books, had to vote for her. It would be a sin not to.

  181. i voted for the house of night series. i love those books!

  182. I voted for the Argeneau Vampire Series by Lynsay Sands but I also love the Breed Series by Lora Leigh and the PSY/Changeling Series by Nalini Singh. It was a hard discision so I went by who I reread the most.

  183. Shell the HOckeyvampiress

    OK narrowing it down….
Lynsay….gotta think hard as this is the last book I read and it was awesomeness….top 10 but not #1
Richelle…. oooh really addicted to this one but hate her cliffhangers…. until the next book so since I haven’t made it to the store today to get the next one goona pass
House of Night series is great but gonna pass just cause I have to admit I love the sex and this one is a little tame but a great series the same
The HOllows… I have to admit I loved Kisten hate Ivy and really like Trent…. can’t see them going in the direction I hoped so I will go to the next one.
This is the toughest…. two of my fave authors I have everything of both on my keeper shelf… flipping a coin…. have to go with….ugggg

OK voting for LKH and Anita…. gotta go with my Jean Claude…. have his rubber ducky tee and another with him…. Christines breeds are amazing and If I could have 2 I would do both

As for the others I know there are bribes and they are working but I would love to see someone else win…..that being said I wish that the Rachel Vincent series was there so I could partake in her bribe from last time….LOL

  184. My Vote is for Lora Leigh’s Breed series.. Got to love them all…

  185. Nalini Singh.

Her characters are original, memorable, lovable, and interesting. Her writing is fast-paced and fluid, she is extremely good at weaving world-building into her books, and I appreciate her attention to detail. Every single book in this series is fantastic.

  186. Georgina Kincaid

  187. Kim Harrison has my vote!!! I LOVE her Hollows series! She has built a believable, deep, intense, hysterical world. Her characters grow and change and learn - and despite the fantastic circumstances (and the fact that they are a witch, a vamp, and a pixie [ok Al] and a demon!) they are a true reflection of our world and our issues. The plots are so far beyond the “girl meets sexy vamp - girl hates said vamp - girl gets bitten and loves the scoundrel” scenarios that sometimes seem to dominate the genre. This series is not the I-wrote-it-in-a-week variety. There’s true depth here in the Hollows. Love and loss, yes (r.i.p. Kist!), but twists and turns and subtle hints that may explode in the next installment. So many “aha!” moments that make reading this series very satisfying and will keep you coming back for more. AND - reading the series through a second time will be as if it is all brand new! So many details that you may not have picked up on the first time around - I’ve NEVER experienced that before. I have laughed out loud (mortifying when you’re hysterical in public :>), cried big, fat, hot tears, and - especially at the end of the latest book - sighed with utter contentment with a huge goofy grin on my face! Kim just writes with such passion that it is impossible not to get swept up. When the books end, it feels like you’ve been on a wonderful and exciting vacation and on the other hand, like you’ve lost a good friend (until the next book comes out). For those who haven’t, check out THE HOLLOWS series by KIM HARRISON - you’ll compare everything you’ve ever read and will ever read to this series. Enjoy!

  188. I like Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy but that wasn’t on the list.
It was a toss up between House of Night & Mortal Instruments.
    I went with Mortal Instruments.

  189. Georgina Kincaid is my favorite! I love all of Richelle mead’s books!

  190. Georgina Kincaid, the story’s awesome. House of the Night and Mortal Instruments were great too though, tough decision.

  191. Yikes. The answer typically is the last one I read, so that would go to Charlaine Harris ( I think). I know out of the books there, it’s Charlaine’s. The last book was one of the best UF books EVER.

and no love for Keri again? She MUST be included in the next poll. Same with Rachel Caine.

  192. I didnt know that many of the series there, I’m only really getting started!! I voted for House of Night by PC Cast and Kirsten Cast because I love their take on vampires and even though it is aimed at young adults I think the characters are strong and extremely well written.
I love Keri Arthur and was disappointed she wasnt on the list!!
    :o)

  193. i voted for Richelle Mead but it was close behind Cassandra Clare.. there both fantastc!!

  194. Lora leigh has my vote hands down!!! There are several really great series’ listed but nobody holds my attention and my heart to a story like Lora. She is a queen among authors to me.

  195. Pick only 1! AUGH!

I was an Anita Blake lover from the first time I picked up the book, but sadly I do fall into the group of fans who feel the stories have sort of fall off the rails…

When I first started reading Ilona Andrews stuff I was disturbed by the way vampires were portrayed. It just seemed so weird that they are something that gets ridden. Now, while it still makes me uncomfortable I am totally in love with the ‘world’ that Ilona has created.

I love the Dresden series though part of it may also be because I love Chicago, LOL.

Augh! Decisions! Okay I am picking The Hollows. I adore that world and love the characters (go Jenks!). One of the things I have always loved about the series is the way that the paranormal came to light. Tomatoes can be so tricky LOL

  196. I vote fot Loa Leigh’s Breed series

  197. I voted for Lora Leigh’s Breed series. As I wait for the next one, out in August. There are so many great series that I read, LKH, Kim Harrison,Nalini Singh, & Lynsay Sands. But I had to pick one.

  198. I picked sookie. She is my fav of all the series. I really like most of the choices. There was only one I haven’t read.

  199. Mortal Instruments! The series is amazing.

  200. I voted for Lora Leigh’s Breed series because it offered something never before done. She has a gift in ensuring her stories include the emotion and not just the action. that is what hooked me from the beginning. She’s very creative and each story in the series stands alone.

Nalini’s comes in second on my list. She rocks too…

  201. Southern Vampires by Charlaine Harris

    Hard Choice……

    Luvdaylilies at bellsouth dot net

  202. I voted!

  203. I voted for Southern Vampires by Charlaine Harris

  204. This is a tough vote, because there are three of my favorites in the running; Southern Vampires, The Hollows and Kate Daniels. In the end I went for Kate Daniels, because She’s new, she’s tough, she’s a smart-ass and I like reading about the world Ilona Andrews has created.

  205. OH MANN… =[ That was a super hard decision, on the one hand I HEART the house of night series soo much (Zoey rox) but on the other im totally BONANZAS about the mortal instruments series (JACE is HOT!) soo i didnt know which one to vote for. I mean they both have totally kool plots and characters and i absolutely love both of the authors! (I blog with P.C Cast and i’ve met Cassandra Clare) *sigh* i had to vote for one and i chose……. The Mortal Instruments Series! not because it was better than H.O.N but mainly beacuse ive spoken to Ms.Clare face to face and she even signed my copy of City Of Glass. I Loved Both series’ though and if either of them win im happy! Oh Yeah n PPl if yu havent read them READ IT! they rock! >> Dina <<

  206. I read a few of those series so its hard to pick just one. I end up going with The Breeds Series by Lora Leigh. I think with this series, it has a long running series and I do like to do re-reading! Too love the sensuality and uniqueness of this series.

Going to check out Cassandra Clare’s series! I think that’s just one I’m not familiar with!

  207. I have to think about my vote some more because two of my fav series are there!

  208. That was a rather difficult decision… I LOVE three series from that list (Georgina Kincaid, Psy-Changelings, and Kate Daniels) but ultimately I have to vote for my absolute favorite — Kate Daniels! The one-liners and humor from that series often have me laughing out loud throughout all three books. Also, the characters are amazing… I can literally picture each individual person in my mind! So yeah… Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews!

  209. I love the Succubus series!!!
Georgina is fun, intelligent and sexy. She is what every woman would dream to be! Eat whatever you want and never have to worry about the scale!!
I also love the fact that is a series for adults, don’t get me wrong, I love mot of the teen series, but a HEAT like the Succubus never killed anyone!
My husband loves when I am reading Richelle, I always get some good ideas!!! LOL

  210. Wow, these were all good choices and a few are my faves!
I voted for Lora Leigh’s the Breed’s Series.
Her series never gets old and she changes up the Breeds, so there are several different ones. The males are all Alpha and the females are to, I mean you have to be to handle men like these! They are sexy and who doesn’t like a man who growls!! The stories are fast paced and o la la! Such day dream quality and my hubby loves it when I read one of hers!! :) (seems like quite a few of us have hubbys that encourage such reading!) lol

  211. About series:
The Sookie series rocks too and then there is Ms. Hamilton, omg can she write a hot book. By the time you finish it feels like a tornado picked you up and you gotta read it again! That is the cool thing about Lora L., L.K. Hamilton and Charlaine H., they are a series to keep and definetly re read!

  212. These polls are always so difficult. I’m going with Kate Daniels. This is a brilliant series that has gotten better with every book. Magic Strikes is one of the best books of the year - hands down. It blends suspense with laugh out loud scenes, unique villains, a wonderfully detailed world and a whole new take on vampires. And come one, they feature Curran! ;)

  213. Still. Can. Not. Pick. Just. One…..this is as painful as a trip to the neurosurgeon………..

  214. OK, this one is easy for me because I’ve only read Anita Blake so I guess it’s a default vote for me. How sad is that? But I will keep an eye out for the other books.

  215. i love Richelle Mead but i haven’t read Georgina Kincaid yet only Vampire Academy so i voted for Mortal INstruments bby Cassandra Clare which i also love

  216. Great list to choose from. I’mnot revealing my vote though! :)

  217. I haven’t heard of some of these, I will have to add them to my list. They must be pretty good, they beat out several good ones to make it here.
    I voted.

  218. It was so very hard for me to choose between Jim Butcher’s ‘Dresden Files’
and Kim Harrison’s Hollow Series. Ask me on different days and I will tell you a different answer. They feed into different moods. I have everything both authors have written and watch them closely so I won’t miss a tidbit.

  219. Dresden or Anita Blake….I love them both but since Butcher has stayed true to his characters where LKH’s have taken a left turn at the red light district, the wizard PI gets the nod!

  220. Wow.. I love Richelle Mead’s Georgina Kincaid series, but I’m going to have to put my vote with the Mortal Instruments series. The writing is amazing throughout, with really strong characters and imagery. Good luck Richelle and Cassandra!

  221. I love many of those, but had to pick Georgina Kincaid by Richelle Mead. It’s such a fantastic series!

  222. Wow, three top chocies for me… but picked one; mostly because although I love southern Vampires series (which is funny for me), and the House of Night is entertaining…

I have to go with Argeneau - because I need to see the continuity of everyone getting together. It’s awesome. Argeneau Chronicles it is.

  223. I had to vote for The Hollows Series. I still have some of the others to read, but I love the range of paranormal characters in The Hollows. From the standard witches and vampires right through to pixies, gargoyles and even banshees!
I love it; easy reading but still so gripping!

  224. Argeneau Vampires by Lynsay Sands Very Hunky & very sexy.

  225. Those were some tough choices but I have to pick The Hollow Series by Kim Harrison. The characters follow me everywhere and the plot twists keep me up at night but in a good way.

  226. I will have to go with Charlaine Harris Southern Vampires. Sookie & Eric can’t wait to see what happens. The only thing dissapointing with the last book was that it was to short. It felt like I just started reading it and it was over. Love the way that the bad guys or the good guys are not always what they seem to be. Can’t wait for the next chapter.

  227. I’m sad that Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series isn’t in the running :( I would have voted for that immediately; but now it’s a tough choice…

  228. I almost went with Lora Leigh’s Breed series; I love them and they are what introduced me to the paranormal world.

However, I’m voting for Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series because, while each book is a “stand alone”, every book builds upon the last and reveals more about the world while adding new intrigues.

  229. Shirley Miller

It was so hard to vote they all are great
but my favorite vote did go to Kim Harrison

  230. Already a subscriber to Bitten By Books. ; ) Voted for the Psy-Changeling series. The covers originally turned me off, but once I cracked open Slave to Sensation I was a goner. The romance, the suspense, and the individuality of each character keeps me coming back time and time again.

  231. Lora Leigh’s Breed Series. WOW. Hawt doesn’t even begin to describe them~~I LOVE, love, love her heros~~just want to lick them up, lol. She writes spunky kick ass heroines who know just how to handle those Alpha Breeds…and you just never know what she’ll come up with next. This series rocks~~

But there are several others listed I LOVE, so it was hard to choose just one!!

  232. Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. I’m reading Incubus Dreams now, and WOW, I’m impatient to finish. Incubus is so freakin’ fat, though! It’s gonna take me forever! And I’m not sure that’s a bad thing. Savor the characters. And Incubus has a lot of Nathaniel, whom I love very much so. :D I also love Edward, but he doesn’t appear to be showing in this one. Oh well. *sighs* I’ll just have to keep reading the series. :) I can probably manage.

  233. Love the Anita Blake series and can’t wait to read Skin Trade next week.

  234. Boy, this was a hard one to vote for. I love most of these! I did finally vote for Jim Butcher’s series as he is the first urban fantasy series I read.

  235. I voted for Dresden Files.

  236. I totaly agree with Elyane i love sookie and Eric. I also thought the book was too short. I cant wait till the next one comes out! i cant stand Bill he ewww! i dont know why but her ruffles my feathers i jsut cant stand how he is still pineing over sookie. uh can we say you messed up pal move on! lol any way :)
    Athenna

  237. I voted for Richelle Mead’s series, Succubus Blues. When I first picked up the book, I admit I was skeptical. I mean, I thought… “hmm, a succubus novel? Wonder how that will go….” But Richelle had me addicted from the first page. She completely turns the tables on what one usually expects. Her succubus has a conscience, her demons love John Cusack, the angels are friends with the previously mentioned demons, and everyone else has their own unique personality! Wonderful series! Good luck Richelle!

  238. I love Southern Vampires! I love it when I just can’t put a book down, and Charlaine Harris keeps me up half the night.

  239. I voted for Mortal Instruments. Cassandra Clare’s series sucks you right into her world of Shadowhunters and Downworlders from the very first paragraph. :)

  240. You mean we can only pick ONE!!! But so many of my favorites are listed. How to choose how to choose!
    M

  241. Well, you probably shouldn’t count me or my vote, because in the end, I only read one of these, so I have to go with Lynsay Sands :)

    Lois

  242. Argh, that was really tough! I eventually went with The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Harry just makes me laugh.

  243. This was almost painful. I picked Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels, but it could have gone to at least 3 others.

  244. I picked the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare because they were a great series, with wonderfully developed characters and a plot that made you not want to put the books down!

  245. Hard decision but I voted for the Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris because I really have enjoyed that series and am anxious to read each new book. Of course I can say the same for the Hollows series so it was a close 2nd!

  246. I had to vote for the Mortal Instruments. I really like the world she created for the book, and how she took types we are familiar with (mages, demons)and created the Shadow Hunters as a protection for the regular people. It made me kind of reflect that, every really interesting bad type of character has to have some flaw or obstacle in their way, otherwise they would just over-run any good characters in any story and basically be unbeatable. There always has to be a balance in any really well done “good versus evil” conflict, and the Shadow Hunters had a very interesting mythology to go along with why they existed in that world.

  247. I voted for the Southern Vampires by Charlaine Harris!

  248. My vote is for the Southern Vampire Series. Good ideas, great characters.

  249. There’s so many great choices, but I have to go with my fellow Ontarion. Argeneau Vampires by Lynsay Sands has my vote!

  250. Had to vote for the Breeds. Love those Big Cats/Wolves/Birds & some Coyotes.

Also Love Nalini & Lindsay, but Lora’s books are just So..So…So.

  251. It was horrible to choose. I’ve read each series all the way through and eagerly await the next installment for each. In the end I had to go with eeny meeney miney mo! and came up with Kate Daniels! Fabulous series and I sincerely hope that it doesn’t end for a long, long time.

  252. I was terribly torn between The Dresden Files (Jim Butcher) & Georgina Kincaid series (Richelle Mead) because I absolutely love ‘em both. That said, I get that warm bubbly (and completely manly, before you make a jab about it) feeling from Georgina. My apologies to Mr. Butcher. Sir, you are both a gentleman and a scholar.

  253. Anita Blake baby - straight no chaser! Being from the south I felt just the tiniest bit turncoat for not going w/ Charlaine on this one- but then there was L.A.Banks whom I adore and she didn’t even make the poll, so there you go. Can’t wait for Skin Trade ( can u say pre-ordered) can’t wait for the IFC film in 2010- and though I’ve not been consulted ( go figure) I think Mia Kirshner would be perfection in That roll! Did I say Anita Blake ?

  254. Of all of these, I have read The Mortal Instruments, therefore this series got my vote. Although it probably would have gotten my vote anyway, because it was a very entertaining, gripping read.

  255. oohnicecupoftea

Huge fan of Anita Blake novels, recently got into the graphic novels too - very impressed.
But for me the stand out series is the Mortal Instruments trilogy, it really draws you in and you forget you are reading YA, it has a nice twist on the vampire legend, and a fantastic twist on angels and nephilim, mixing in a bit of fey along the way!
Honourable mention goes to the Argeneau series, very funny with charismatic characters.

  256. Georgina Kincaid the story’s great and addicting

  257. I totally vote for Mortal Insturments…It was a great series and appealed to both me and my husband!

  258. So, I ended up voting for TheMortal Instruments, by Cassandra Clare because I beleive that this is an awesome series and I was hooked from the first page. I loved how the characters and the character relationships were developed and also I absolutely loved all of the smart-ass, sarcastic comments- cos they made me smile.

  259. I have to go with House of Night, I love how it has so many pagan allusions.

  260. Lindsey Ekland

I have to go with Psy-Changelings by Nalini Singh. Read every book the day it comes out.

  261. With Sherrilyn Kenyon not on the list, I’m going with Lynsay Sands…

  262. I really enjoy the Dresden Files! That’s my vote :-) (Fun contest/poll!)

  263. Kate Daniels. I love most of the others too, but haven’t read mortal instruments yet…..

  264. Pamela Marie Heggie

I’ve read 3 of those series and love them all. Will be checking out the others in the list now too!

  265. I’ve read MI by Cassandra Clare and I’ve read Richelle Mead’s other series (Vampire Academy, but that’s not in this poll) so I can’t say about the others, but MI is definitely one of my FAVOURITE BOOKS. It’s better than Twilight, well for me it is anyways, and I would like to see it win.

  266. I ended up choosing the Hollows series. It was a tough choice for me between Kim Harrison and LKH.. but I feel that the plot is a bit better in the hollows books. I love the Kate Daniels series, but until there is a couple more books out, I don’t really think that she can win best series.. the books that I have read are frickin awesome, but I feel there needs to be more than four books to qualify for the category, otherwise I would have chosen her. :)

  267. I vote for Cassandra Clare and her series the Mortal Instruments.

  268. Oooo Wow, Richelle Mead is up there isn’t she?

C’mon Jim! at least get to third!

  269. Oh my, how to decide. I want several votes! I love Kim Harrison’s Hollows series, and I reread Southern Vampires by Charlaine Harris and Argeneau Vampires by Lynsay Sands all the time. Right now I’m working my way from start to finish of Lora Leigh’s Breeds series, after falling in love with a few of the short stories I found first, and I have enjoyed House of Night by the Casts.
But my final vote had to go to Jim Butcher for the Dresden Files, because that seems to be the series I look forward to new books the most. And I am seriously ready for a new one, even if one just came out a bit ago.

  270. Out of those listed I’ve only read 2 of these series. Who couldn’t look big, rough, and tough men with animal dna who risk everything for their women and children. I voted for THE BREED SERIES BY Lora Leigh, read it thourgh and through 4 times. But up there right next to it would be THE CHANGLING/PSY Series by Nainli Singh she is pretty awsome. I think if she had as many books out as Lora Leigh she might have been my choice. Thank goodness she’s got 6 more books due out in time and I can’t wait to see what she does next.

  271. Claire (Copper)

i vote Argeneau Vampires by Lynsay Sands its everything you need and plenty of men to dream about

  272. Melissa Conatser

I voted for The Breeds series, because it is the only one that I have read. I have read so much about Nainli Singh’s series, though, that I will be picking it up soon.

  273. I voted for Kim Harrison’s Hollow’s series becuase Rache kicks ass! I do also love the Richelle Mead series - love it!

I haven’t read the Dresden Files but everyone raves about it so I need to just “bite” the bullet! LOL

    Sabrina

  274. I voted for Ilona Andrews, Kate Daniels series. The southern vampire series by Charlaine Harris got me reading again and I love her books. There is something about Kate that really makes you want to read more.

  275. ohh my i love alot of them but my vote is between 2 of them. 1. Southern Vampires and 2. Dresden Files.

my vote is Southern Vampires .

I have a Question what is a kindle? i never heard of it before this site. thanks to all.

  276. cherie cornett

    Here’s my top 3
    1 Kate Daniels
    2 Southern Vampire
    3 The Hollows

  277. I voted for the Anita Blake by Laurell K. Hamilton. Love the series. I am very hooked on it. Can’t wait for the next one.

  278. I have to go with Sherrilyn Kenyons Dark Hunters. I am a minion!!!! I love the story lines, the people and the humor. I am anticipating Fang and Aimees story!!

  279. Ok- since she isn’t on the list, and I got excited- I will have to go with the awesomeness that is the Argeneau Vampires by Lynsay Sands, I have nursed those books, so I am not done with the series yet (I have the latest one to read, and I just keep putting it back on my bookshelf and pick another) They are a good read for when I am depressed. I LOVE the humor!

  280. I voted for Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. It is witty and facepaced. Harry Dresden is a great hero, but the secondary characters are equally fascination.

  281. I voted for Kim Harrison’s Hollows series. I am completely captivated by her creativity. My paranormal/fantasy stories are my “escape” from everyday hardships and she has given me the greatest trip ever to another world with this series!! Good luck Kim!!!

  282. It was hard to pick, but I had to go with Anita Blake by Laurell K. Hamilton. I love that series! The earlier books where Anita solved mysteries were my absolute favorites.

  283. I had to pick Kim Harrison’s ‘Hollows” Series. Her plots not only captive me but her sense of humor is great! Whenever I am down, I pick up Kim’s books and read them over again. At this point, they look like they have been thru a tornado - pretty worn out. Hopefully, someday I will be able to them all of them in hardcover. Not to mention, Kim herself is such a great person.

  284. Hey Dorothy, I agree! I loved the early Anita books.

  285. It was very hard to pick just one, when you have the best of the best and all my favorites, Kim Harrison, Charlaine Harris, Laurell Hamilton, Illona Andrews, Jim Butcher and Lynsay Sands. They are all fantastic authors, each in their own way. But, I had to chose Ilona Andrews with her Kate Daniels series. The Kate Daniels series gets better with each book and Illona Andrews version of vampires is so interesting and different. And, of course, there is the Kate and Curran relationship that fires up each book. And, Illona Andrews is fairly “new on the scene” but it’s great to see her, at this point in time, number 2 in the poll!

  286. By far the choice for me is the Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris. I have read and re-read these books more than any other series I’ve read/owned in the past and will no doubt continue to re read this series over and over again. I love reading about Sookie’s adventures in the paranormal world.

  287. Dresden Files, bar none.

  288. Although all of the authors deserve to win, my vote goes to Christine Feehans “Breed Series”. I love all of her books but there is just something about a shifter. All those pent up animalistic urges make for a great storyline. Good luck to everyone!

    Lisa

  289. I voted for The Breeds Series by Lora Leigh. I absolutely love them. They are always an auto buy for me.

  290. I voted for the Mortal Instruments series because they are the best books I’ve read in a long time. I have lots of favorite authors but this series just grabbed my brain and ran off with it!! I am older than most readers of YA fiction so hadn’t heard anything about the books until I noticed displays in a few bookstores. I was curious and bought the first book. Finished it and immediately returned to the bookstore for the next two!! I am really looking forward to the Infernal Devices trilogy and hearing more about “Warlock Bane.” He’s cool!

  291. It was not an easy choice, because I really like most of the other authors and have all of their books. I can see that I am not alone because a lot of the other posters had the same problem. However, I did pick The Breeds Series by Lora Leigh. I love all the different breeds.

  292. I actually read almost all of these so it is very hard. I actually did a coin toss cause I just could not make up my mind. I just kept putting each series against another until one came out on top. I set it up like college brackets and everything to make it fair.

  293. Georgina Kincaid has my vote! The characters are fun, creative, and sexy!

  294. Georgina Kincaid is gripping and I didn’t want to put it down!

  295. I love Georgina Kincaid awesome series!!!

  296. Georgina Kincaid, Richelle Mead’s work is awesome!

  297. though I really love, love, love Richelle Mead and her Georgina Kincaid series, I am really pulling for Kim Harrison’s Hollows series. It is my favorite and the one that got my vote. (Richelle would have been my second choice) I see Kim has moved up in the polls and I really hope she wins, so I can buy another mug to go with the one I bought when Ivy won for best vamp.

  298. i love the mortal instruments series! love the characters! cassandra clare rocks!!!

  299. Mortal Instruments all the way baby! I love that series. It grips my heart every time I read it and I love Jace and Clary and everyone else! It really is an amazing read.

  300. I am such a series reader. I love, love, love Lynsay Sands Argeneau Series. This series always leaves me feeling happy. And these days that is huge. Her vamp world is different than other series. Her take on how they became immortals is unique.
I enjoy LS writing style, and the fact that you grow to “know” the Argeneau family and the sub characters. I am also enjoying the spin-off series The Rogue hunters. So there are 9 books so far and I can honestly say that I look forward to each new book that comes out.

  301. My vote has always been for Lynsay Sands and always will be. I fell in love with Bastien Argeneau, the Immortal go-to man, and I’ve never
    “turned” back! Go, Lynsay, Go!:-)

  302. I went with Anita Blake. It was a hard choice cause I read so many of these series. Anita though I started with her years ago and am still reading her to this day.

  303. I ended up voting for The Hollows by Kim Harrison. It was a very close call and a very difficult choice as i really like pretty much on the same level The Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris, The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, Georgina Kincaid by Richelle Mead and Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews.

It took me a couple of days to choose between, that’s how difficult it was. But as a commentator said i chose the one I recommend the most and that’s the Hollows.

  304. I voted Five Stars!!

  305. We have to vote for just one? My favorites are Laurell K. Hamilton, Kim Harrison, Richelle Mead and Jim Butcher, probably in that order. Each series has its strengths and I look forward to each new book they write.

  306. I love to read about Georgina…just finished Succubus Heat and I’m psyched for next yrs Succubus Shadows…

  307. Does the ‘Doctrine of Labyrinths’ series by Sarah Monette count? It has magic so maybe it’s classified as ‘Fantasy’, but it also has non-humanoid creatures.

And same question about the ‘Darkborn’ series by Alison Sinclair, even though only one book is out so far. Involves magic, but there are non-human characters also.

Both fab authors! And happy birthday to you.

  308. Georgina Kincaid, hands down! I’ve tried other series, Southern Vampires being one of them, but they just don’t suck me in the same way.

I just got Succubus Heat the day before yesterday, and am on the verge of finishing. Would have finished it sooner if it weren’t for finals.

I love this series, and I was actually giddy when I got my hands on a copy of Succubus Heat. Georgina is the reason I tried a gimlet.

  309. I voted for Richelle Mead’s Georgina series. I absolutely love Georgina and the other characters in the series. Richelle’s writing style is great and really gets you to become a part of the story. I laught out loud when things are funny and I cry when things are sad. I don’t always get that from some of the other writers and series that are nominated.

  310. I love Richelle Mead, and the mishaps of Georgina Kincaid! I can’t wait to see what happens next in her very dysfunctional, brazen, and funny life!

  311. I love Georgina Kincaid and all of Richelle Mead’s work. I love the character’s personalities.

  312. Georgina Kincaid! Richelle writes some of the best paranormal series

  313. Nalini Singh’s series, for sure!
Her world is so perfectly crafted, I drool with envy :)

    J.K. Coi

  314. Richelle Mead’s Georginia

  315. OUCH what happened to Kate??
Ughh oh well I love Mead’s work too =]

  316. Georgina. Love her

  317. This was a really tough decision, not in the least because I only recognized a few of the series. Picking from the series I do know and enjoy was not very easy. I went with Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series because she does a wonderful job of creating a world where a variety of paranormal beings coexist. I have enjoyed all of the books in the series.

  318. Who won the couple contest?

  319. Vote for Georgina Kincaid, I;m a die-hard fan of Richelle Mead’s.

  320. Lora Leigh alllllll the way!

  321. Georgina Kincaid,I’m in love with Richelle Mead’s work

  322. Georgina Kincaid! I love everything about the book

  323. Georgina Kincaid! I’m addicted!

  324. I HAVE TO VOTE FOR THE HOUSE OF NIGHT SERIES, I LOVE IT SO MUCH

  325. Richelle Mead’s Succubus Series gets my vote. The others on the list are ones I love, or don’t know, or aren’t my style. Georgina Kincaid is a heroine who I love and admire, but deserves more acclaim in my opinion. I always pre-order the new Succubus book, but I don’t know that I do that for others on this list, no matter how beloved.

  326. Georgina Kincaid by Richelle Mead got my vote, Richelle is a totally awesome author! OK well have a great day!

  327. Had to go with the Argeneau Vampires. Ms. Sands does an amazing job of creating a continuing series, focusing on new main characters, but allowing the deveolped characters and relationships carry over to each new adventure. I love Richelle Mead, Vampire Academy Series especially. But, I voted after reading the 4th Georgina Kincaid book that came out Tuesday. Georgina and Seth left a bitter taste in my mouth! Sorry!

  328. I voted for the hollows it is an awesome series, though I do love the Anita Blake series too.

  329. I had to go with The Mortal Instruments over Georginia Kincaid. Both have a great mix of humor, paranormal, and romance. However, as someone said above me, the 4th Succubus book (that I loved) did leave me sad over the G&S situation. Plus, Jace needs to be shown some love after his ordeal with Valentine.

  330. Gearogina Kincaid-romantic suspense and many twists

  331. Georgina!!

  332. I have been looking for fresh blood, lol, ok books about it as I have maxed out my fave LKH. She has my vote.
Books find me more than I search them out, I go to the book store for something they don’t have and find something I wasn’t looking for. I found LKH by accident and have watched Anita Blake evolve dramaticly and to be honest I skipped a few of her books and since having to have surgery to have my back fused I’ve been reading everything I can get my hands on and have read the books I skipped. I am re-reading Danse Macabe right now as well as another I forgot the author’s name.
I would love some reccomendations I love any Vampire Fiction.

  333. I started reading science fiction and fantasy 40 years ago in my teens. For many many years I have been criticized, teased or considered weird for doing so. With the advent of star wars science fiction finally came into its own, but fantasy and supernatural books were still considered junk and/or evil. Now the very people who criticized are hooked on vampires. I don’t know whether to laugh, and tell them to get out of my genre!!!

  334. Oops - forgot to mention the Star Trek series for helping popularize science fiction!

  335. I love the characters in Georgina Kincaid.

  336. I love Georgina Kincaid, it’s addicting

  337. Definitely Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire.
I love Sookie, she’s not one of those heroine who can do everything and does that better than those around her. Sookie is just a normal girl with supernatural abilities.

  338. Great series - I love Sookie

  339. The Kim Harrison series is the best… The Hollows Series is a must read. I can tell that a lot of the voters here haven’t read it because if they had….well Kim Harrison would would be winning:-)

  340. I vote for Mortal Instruments, hands down. Good vs. evil, love conquers all, and friendship lasts. I love all the themes, and there are more, plus the wicked demon fueled motorcycles!

  341. That is a tough choice. I’ll go for the Hollows by Kim Harrison

  342. Roberta Harwell

I’ve chosen Southern Vampries by Charlaine Harris. Have a great day.

  343. Andrea Becraft

I go with Argeneau Series by lynsay sands.

But I loved the mortal instrament too. Just I had to choose.

  344. Wow…more to add to my reading list. Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

  345. So I voted for LKH. I have been reading her books for over eight years. What do I love most about her books? I guess it is the fact that she isnt afraid to go all the way. She holds nothing back in her writing. Besides who doesnt want to read about a heroine that has a min of six boyfriends, both vampire and lycanthrope.

  346. The Hollow series by kim harrision
    its the bestttt

  347. I have to pick The Hollows by Kim Harrison as my all time favorite. I like so many of the others, but Rachel Morgan and the gang in the Hollows is the #1 pick for me.

  348. love the psy-changeling series by Nalini its different then most I have read

  349. Arghhh, I really can’t pick. Out of the ones that I’ve read they have all had very different traits and I love them all. I’m new to vamps, but finding them a fast favorite.

    Teagan Oliver

  350. Rachel Morgan is THE kick-ass heroine!!! Not only is she a tough cookie but she’s got a heart of gold. She’s loyal and compassionate and funny as all get out!!! Also, it’s great fun to watch her grow as a person.

  351. Okay, Southern Vampires…FINAL ANSWER!!! The only way I finally made a decision is because I grew up in the South and have been to several of the places she writes about…and I loved reading those sections soooo, sooo, much! What a fun (but really difficult) poll!!! :)

  352. The Dresden files has always been my top paranormal pick. It’s the go-to series I give every new urban fantasy reader. A close second to that has been Harrison’s The Hollows, although I must admit that the plot of the last couple books has fallen a little short and dragged a little long for me.

All of that said, my vote goes to Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews. Not only has she offered us an awesome, kick-ass female protagonist, a sexy-as-hell shapeshifting love interest, and twisting, turning plot lines that move at warp speed, but she does it all in a rich and interesting alternate universe unlike any others I’ve come across.

  353. I vote for the Kate Daniels series because it just keeps getting better and better. The relationships are becoming richer and richer and I can’t wait to read the next novel!
