  1. You really should have included Angie Fox’s Biker Witch / Demon Hunting series. Lizzie rules!!! - Candy Knickers Steel Butt

  2. Say Victoria can we include Angie Fox And her demon biker series

  3. I think you should have included Nalini’s Psy/Changling series too.

  4. Definately need to include Angie Fox’s Demon Slayer series! They are fun to read and the characters are fantastic! 5 Star recommendation!

  5. I had already voted (for Mercy Thompson) when I realized I could vote for up to five. Since I see no way to correct that in the voting area, I’ll tell you my other 4 here, in no particular order.
    Accidental Series
    Iron Druid
    Real Vampires
    Queen Betsy

  6. PS I agree about Angie Fox’s Demon Slayer series

  7. Jeaniene Frost’s Grave Series and the Night Prince Series

  8. Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs! Mercy is the awesome!

  9. There should be….
The Vampire academy series by Richelle Mead
The house of night series by P.C.Cast and Kristen Cast
The saga of Darren Shan the Cirque de freak series by Darren Shan
Nice girls dont series by Molly Harper
J.R. WARD FOR EVERYTHING!!!!! #1 FOR ME!!
Wicked lovely series by Melissa Marr
The Fever series Karen Marie Moaning!! #2 for me!
    Evermore series by Alyson Noel

  10. Love Angie Fox’s Accidental Demon Slayer series.
    Go Biker Witches!

  11. My choices
    Accidentals By D Cassidy
    BDB by JR Ward
Deacon Chalk Bounty Hunter by James R. Tuck
    Queen Betsy/Undead by MaryJanice Davidson
    Real Vampires by Gerry Bartlett

    I also would include
    Sookie Stackhouse by C Harris
Gardella Vamp Chronicles by Colleen Gleason
    Jane Jameson by Molly Harper
and many others. I’m just thankful there are more to choose from than I can read!

  12. I’d add Thea Harrison’s Elder Races series as well as Eileen Wilks’ Lupi series (and many more, lol)

  13. Black Swan by Victoria Dannan

  14. Ghostwalkers, by Christine Feehan

  15. Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, for sure!
    Guild Hunters by Nalini Singh
Women of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong
And it’s YA but also love Elementals series by Brigid Kemmerer

  16. Love Jane Yellowrock by Faith Hunter. She has a great related take in Kicking It, an anthology that was released today!

Also the Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne and Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs.

  17. I have voted for Dresden, Harper Blaine, the Iron Druid and Jane Yellowrock - all brilliant series, but you should also have included the Matthew Swift series by Kate Griffin. Blue electric angels!!!

  18. I voted for Jane Yellowrock, Mercy Thompson, Dark Hunters, Guild Hunters and Harry Dresden. I selected these for two reasons (with the exception of Dresden), I like the female characters being portrayed as both human and fearless and reasonably principled. For the Dresden pick, he’s allowed to make mistakes in writing :-) so he’s that much more human and relatable.

  19. I know that the Anne Bishop “The Others” series (Written in Red, Murder of Crows) has only one book out, with another due out in March, but I think its another really strong series. I think Bishops best so far and one that I would recommend readers get in on the ground floor of.

  20. Raonaid Luckwell

Yes I heart Angie Fox’s Demon Slayer series. Lizzie, Dimimtri and Pirate.. awesomesauce!!

But out of the ones mentioned…
I totally voted for Delilah S.Dawson’s BLUD. Love love love love that series so much. Aww Criminy.
Then I voted for Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter (Bluebell!!! Aodhan!!!)
    Faith H unter’s Yellowrock
Kate Daniels by Ilone Andrews and Jennifer Estep’s “elemental assassin”

  21. There are so many excellent series in this genre that make this such a tough question but I voted for:

Other- Fever series by Karen Marie Mooning- for me this is a bench-mark series. The entire world is so fully realized & the emotional investment in staggering.

Elemental Assassins & Jane Yellowrock- for similar reasons. You have two strong but far from perfect heroines- they make mistakes, they learn, they get hurt, they train. The supporting casts in each of these series are also incredible integral. They are character driven series that just keep improving.

Iron Druid- because it is nice to bring a little testosterone to the party

Finally, Anita Blake. Love or hate this series- it is one that is credited with bringing this genre back in vogue and one that is the most “classical” representation of the genre. Plus, I don’t care who you are- Jean Claude is sexy.

(D.B. Reynolds Vampires in America series was a very close #6 for me- another great vampire series)

    • I think I’d have to add The Chicagoland Vampire Series (Chloe Neill), October Daye (Seanan McGuire), Spellcrackers series (Suzanne McLeod), Alien series (Gini Koch) & I cannot believe I forgot Charley Davidson (Darynda Jones). This is hard.

  22. Wow, though choices. If I could I would vote for all and add a couple dozen more.

  23. The Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter is my all time favorite series. I also love the Mercy Thompson series and the Deacon Chalke series but nothing tops Jane. The main reason, besides Jane being a kickass female who shares her body with a mountain lion, which is awesome in itself, is that each book in the series gets better and better which is very rare in a long series.

  24. So many great series, it was hard to narrow it down!
My favorites: Dark Hunters by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward, Hollows by Kim Harrison, Greywalker by Kat Richardson, and Other (Dark series by Christine Feehan).

  25. My favorites would be Downside by Stacia Kane, Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews, Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs and BDB by J R Ward. I would add Merit from Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland Vampires to the list.

  26. I only voted for Hollows, Sabina Kane and Mercy Thompson. There were a few on the list I’d really like to read, but couldn’t vote for them since I can’t speak to how good they actually are yet. And to be honest, I saw a couple that are really popular, but I’ve tried to read and can’t figure out why they are. Anyway, I wish Seanan McGuire’s October Daye series had been represented in the poll. It is amaze-balls. Whenever I get my hands on the latest one I neglect my family.

  27. My two favorite series belong to Faith Hunter’s Jane Yellowrock & Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels.
Love the Iron Druid, Mercy Thompson , The Hallows & Alex Craft!!

  28. Love the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I was very surprised to note that the Joanne Walker series my CE Murphy was not a choice.

  29. Here’s a few not on the list that I LOVE:

    Chloe Neill - Chicagoland Vampires
D.B. Reynolds - Vampires in America
    Laurann Dohner - New Species
    Angie Fox - Demon Slayer
    Thea Harrison - Elder Races

  30. Ilona Andrews are my NUMBER 1. And of course Hunter- Briggs- Frost-Neill-Estep are all favs
    There is also
    Jenn Bennett -Arcadia Bell Series
    Sonnet O’Dell Farbanks Series
and some sleepers that I found that are GREAT are
    Sharon Hannaford- Hellcat Series*****
    Mark Henwick-Bite Back
S M Reine Both Descent and Ascension Series. Right now I am reading Michelle Graves -The Chronicles of Izzy and I”m impressed.

  31. I’ve read only three of the series on the list, but I really enjoyed them: Dresden Files, Dark Hunters and Kate Daniels.

  32. Seanan McGuire’s October Daye, Jaye Wells’ Sabina Kane, Nicole Peeler’s Jane True, Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid, The Dresdin Files, Kim Harrison’s Hollows series, Diana Rowland’s Kara Gillian series, and Nalini Singh’s Psi / Changlings are big favorites.

  33. I would recommend Tara Lain’s Aloysius Tales and Jordan Castillo Price’s PsyCop series for those interested in m/m PNR! (Lain’s series is more on the sweet side, while Price’s is great if you like some mystery added…)

  34. I voted the hollows series, BDB, and the Anita Blake series, even though the last half of the series wasn’t as good, it still kept me entertained. I might have to read the mercy thompson and jane yellowrock series, since they beat the hollows, that’s what i’m currently reading and LOVE it. Kim is doing a read along on her blog/facebook and each e-book we are on gets priced 1.99. I also enjoy the vampire diaries series, but it’s Y.A.

  35. Judy Unterberger

You need to include author Angie Fox and ber series.

  36. I say maybe
    1. Dark Hunters by Sherrilyn Kenyon
    2. Others= A Carpathian Novel by Christine Feehan
    3. Mercy Thompson by Patrica Briggs
    4. Real Vampires by Gerry Barlett
    5. Accidental Series by Dakota Cassidy
would say Kim Harrison but think she maybe more Urban Fantasy? but I love her to.
    sasluvbooks at yahoo

  37. The Elemental series by Elizabeth Hunter. The 4 book series and it’s satellite stories will keep you reading. I actually had to take a break after finishing Gio & B’s story.

  38. Anita Blake by Laurell K Hamilton

  39. voted enjoyed interview with Milly Taiden

  40. I picked 4 and added other for Nalini Singh’s other series: Psy-Changeling, Guild Hunters. As well as for Darkhunters, Mercy Thompson series, and the Black Dagger Brotherhood. But there are a lot more. those are the ones i am currently invested in. :)

  41. Ilona Andrews, J.R. Ward, Mercy Thompson, Dresden Files and Elemental Assassin were my picks off the top of my heads- seriously, those five should be read by every urban fantasy fan.

  42. Anita Blake by Laurell K. Hamilton

  43. Voted for 5 could have voted for more lol. Also like a lot of the additions people are including.

  44. lori simpson (@lary1971)

I love mercy, kate, and gin. They are awesome heroines. Each has a complex story that stirs you. These are some of my favorite books.

  45. Such a tough call - I had to go with Pirate and Jenks, and its pretty much a tie. I love Angie & Kim’s series!!! my 2 favroite. :)

  46. Out of all of those listed, I have only read Sherrilyn Kenyon. However, 20+ books and still going strong in my opinion, though I am behind the last 2 books. There is something about that world that she built that is so intriguing and complicated. I love it!
And for Simi, she is just awesome! Charred with bar-b-que sauce! ;)
