When Amanda and Jake broke up, she walked away from Club Redemption and her fighter friends. Several years later, her whole life is invested in trying to make partnership at one of the most prestigious law firms in the city. However, in order to attain her goal, she will be required to sleep with the managing partner. When she walks away from it all, she ends up running to her past. When she starts training at Redemption, Jake claims her as his again.Jake wants to start new with her, but this time he wants to do it right. However, he is not sure if Amanda will finally let go and stop running away every time he gets close.
I started this book and hated every time I got interrupted. I got drawn into Jake and Amanda’s story and had to find out what happened. The added element of learning a little bit about a sport I know almost nothing about through their interaction at the MMA club, made it all the more interesting. There were times I found myself wanting to smack both characters upside the head, Jake for his caveman tendencies and Amanda for her naivety and stubbornness.
The chemistry between Jake and Amanda was hot and the sex was equally steamy, which ultimately was what made the book exciting and hard to put down. Some of the other fighters in the book seemed intriguing and I hope to read more about them in future books. This seemed to be the second book in the series, but could be read as a standalone. If you love hot, sweaty, fighters, then In Your Corner is for you.
