Emma – From early childhood my parents encouraged me to read and I spent most of my time either with my nose in a book or on my horse. While my parents can take the glory for my love of reading they have no idea where I got my love of animals (horses and dogs in particular) from. I got my first dog when I was 8 but had to hand him back as my younger siblings where scared of him (he was a bouncy puppy). So I got a horse and my parents promise I could get a dog when I was fourteen (they thought I would forget). Well I turned 14 and asked for my dog J I’ve had one ever since.
Now days as an adult my time is split between work, reading, my dog (just in the last year and a half I’ve taken up dog agility) and still occasionally some horses.
When reading I read across a wide variety of genres from sci fi and fantasy to murder/mystery. I’m not particularly fond of historical but otherwise I’ll give anything a try.

This has to be one of the more intriguing first lines I have read in a long time:
“The worst time for a police cruiser to fly off a bridge was when you were handcuffed in the back.” Where can you go from there? Dana manages to live up to the excellent first line and takes you on a journey of intrigue in the now-familiar Broslin Creek setting. Not only do we get to follow two new friends on their journey, but we catch up with old friends and see the start of some potential new stories.

A bit darker than Deathwatch, Deathscape is still a good read. Set in the now familiar town of Broslin Creek, it follows the journey of Ashley and Jack. I enjoyed the development of the characters in some very trying circumstances. Dana has very good world-building skills, and I’m enjoying how true to Read More »

Kicking off with a bang, this book keeps you involved every step of the way. Although short, there is a good bit of information that is given in such a way as to build the story and characters, not just as information. Having seen an assassin’s face, Kate’s life is in jeopardy until he is caught. Can she trust someone else to help her again? She believed others could help once before only to be proved wrong.

The premise of

Somehow she has become able to see when people are ready for love, and even better she can identify their perfect match.

Tiger Magic is the fifth book in a series. I have read all other books and do highly recommend others do so, as well, in order to get the full background to this fascinating world. You could read them as stand-alones, but they really are written as a series and should be read as such due to the overall story arc that threads through all the books.

From birth Sage had always been different, so different he scared his mother as a newborn baby with his ability to focus and follow her with his eyes. He always seemed to be listening, and worse, understanding everything. Once Sage learned to read at an extremely early age there was no stopping him. Not only did he excel in all subjects, but he pushed himself physically, as well, and was far more advanced than other children his age.

Surrounded by Secrets is the fourth book in a series. I had not read the previous three when I read this and believe this had an impact on my enjoyment of the book. I do feel that with more understanding of the characters and how they came to be at their current points I might have enjoyed it more.

This is a second book in a series, and I highly recommend reading the first book,
Haunting Blue, first. I also read the in-between novella that isn’t necessarily needed but does flesh out some background of a new character,
Haunting Obsession.
Blue (Fiona) has never fully recovered from the events two years ago when her mother was killed and she almost died fighting a ghost. Read More »
