Werewolves Be Damned by Stacey Kennedy

Werewolves Be Damned (Entangled Edge) by Stacey KennedyOne half witch and the other half Guardian, Nexi has just lost the only family she has ever known and is rescued by a group of barely-clad hunks that whisk her away to the Otherworld. While Nexi is struggling to accept that werewolves and witches really do exist, she also needs to adapt to all the other oddities of this new world and her altered reality. Everything is a challenge, including Kyden, the Guardian who rescued her in Earthworld. When he volunteers to train her to fight, Nexi is both happy and frustrated to be trained by the best of the best, even though she thinks he has the mentality of a caveman. She is called to utilize what she has learned sooner than expected when there is a sudden increase in Earthworld fatalities.

This is the first book in the Magic and Mayhem series. I have always enjoyed stories about werewolves and vampires so I was really looking forward to a new series. Nexi is training hard so that she can hunt down the werewolves that killed her family and avenge their death. Through it all, much of her family history and her unusual bloodline is slowly revealed to her. There are several interesting twists that made this difficult to put down. The storyline is intriguing and fresh but at times Nexi’s inner monologue is silly and overly wordy. Some of the descriptions and thought patterns are what you would expect from a teenage girl instead of a tough, young warrior woman. However, the imaginative plot still kept me on the hook. Werewolves Be Damned and the victory goes to Nexi.

About AJ

Blessed by parents who read to her in the womb, AJ learned to read by the age of 3. She now has an entire room dedicated to reading, with shelves of books stacked to the ceiling, in addition to a stack of books in every room. Her obsession with the written word eventually developed into the desire to write her own stories. Someone saw talent in her and she found work as a Writer/Editor. It was pure heaven. Her husband, who rarely read a book, caught the fever and is now engrossed in another series of books. Passing on the tradition of reading to her child in the womb, her daughter now sleeps in a room with stacks of books surrounding her and just won an award for logging the most reading time in a school with over 500 students.
