As Clothilde Lejeune works to decipher and translate the contents of the codex found in the oil jar her father brought back from the war, her work is interrupted by the enigmatic Monsignor who enlists her help and the help of her son to find the remaining oil jars mentioned in her father’s letter from the war. With the Kolektor out of the way, another has stepped into his place and the body count is rising again with the apparent goal being to find the missing jars. The friends and family must once again unravel the clues to find the jars before it is too late and the fate of Christianity as mankind knows it is changed forever.
In this sequel to Judas the Apostle, Mr. Mayhall once again crafts a story so intriguing that you feel you are one with the party searching for the oil jars and trying to protect them. Chloe is a kick butt woman who though unsure of herself inside exudes a strong confidence in her mission. She is surrounded by a supporting cast of many, all of whom are wonderful characters who make you remember that there are good guys out there and you want for them to win at all costs.
The Last Sicarius is not a book for the faint hearted or young, this is definitely something that those interested in historical fiction of the Biblical era, or those interested in religious historical fiction should definitely take the time to read this wonderful novel and its companion, Judas the Apostle.
