Paul Cunningham and his buddy, Allan Rappaport, had just returned from a difficult mission in the Ecuadorian Amazon, where their assignment was to rescue four college students from a hostage situation. Though they were able to locate the students, the kidnappers came after them, killing one of the students, making Paul all the more determined to safely return her body to her parents.
After their mission ended, the two men headed home, looking forward to a few weeks of vacation with family and friends in northern Montana. The few remaining pack members were eager to see Paul and Allan, and some were secretly hoping that Paul would retire from survivalist missions and take over the pack, as his parents had been the leaders before the pack was decimated by rabid wolves several years earlier.
Lori Greypaw had been hiding her feelings about Paul for years, and after the pack’s collapse was one of the supporters of Paul taking over, with her as his mate. Lori’s grandmother, Emma, knowing how Lori felt about Paul, engineered Paul’s help by purchasing his services in a bachelor auction for charity, and was able to ensure that Paul and Lori were thrown together every day.
As Paul and Lori worked on the lake cabin, their mutual attraction soon could not be denied, and they decided to mate and work together to rebuild and strengthen the pack, still referred to as the Cunningham pack. Trouble quickly arose in the form of three omega wolves that had been kicked out of their former pack, a bank robber in town, Allan’s sister Rose learned she was pregnant by a drifter wolf, and Paul and Allan were summoned to Brazil to rescue a family friend, leaving Lori in charge of the pack.
As always, Terry Spear has created a realistic world for her shifters, and I was easily drawn into Paul and Lori’s world, applauding Lori’s strength, courage, and willingness to lead the pack in Paul’s absence, knowing that he might be on missions for weeks at a time. Paul is an honorable man who is extremely protective of his family and friends and will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. SEAL Wolf Hunting is an exciting and fast-paced story with interesting characters, strong women, and plenty of romance, and I can easily recommend it to both shifter and romance fans.
