Random Body Parts, Gross Anatomy Riddles in Verse by Leslie Bulion

Random Body Parts: Gross Anatomy Riddles in Verse by Leslie BulionThe book opens with a riddle, then clues are given in poems to try to determine which body part is being described. The answer is revealed with both the medical name and everyday language to help the reader. There are lots of fun illustrations and a glossary with even more illustrations at the back.

What a fun way to learn about anatomy. I wish there had been something like this when I was in school. In my experience, rhyming has always helped me to lock in information, so I often tried to study by turning everything into a sing-song rhyme. Although I worked in a field where anatomy was part of my daily routine, some of the poems included in this book made me look at individual body parts in a different light. Each part of the body, its function and how it relates to the whole being is described with great detail.

There are plenty of giggles and even a few belly laughs involved. Random Body Parts, Gross Anatomy Riddles in Verse is a great example of how to entertain and still be educational. I will be buying copies of this book as gifts for my daughter and a few of her friends.

About AJ

Blessed by parents who read to her in the womb, AJ learned to read by the age of 3. She now has an entire room dedicated to reading, with shelves of books stacked to the ceiling, in addition to a stack of books in every room. Her obsession with the written word eventually developed into the desire to write her own stories. Someone saw talent in her and she found work as a Writer/Editor. It was pure heaven. Her husband, who rarely read a book, caught the fever and is now engrossed in another series of books. Passing on the tradition of reading to her child in the womb, her daughter now sleeps in a room with stacks of books surrounding her and just won an award for logging the most reading time in a school with over 500 students.
