Jinx is at odds with his pack. Exiled from the house, living with a vampire named Jez, Jinx has been trying to undo the damage he unintentionally caused while the Dire ghost army tried to rule the world, which unleashed some of the monsters living in purgatory. When he hears of an unshifted Were in a psychiatric hospital, he drops everything to go her aid.
Gillian Black has no idea what she is, not just a Were, a Dire from the original Greenland pack. The whole Dire pack works to understand the details of how and why she came to be separated from her pack, and Jinx teaches her about being a Dire. Jinx is drawn to her even as he tries to push her away, for her own safety, at least until he can figure out how to reverse the damage he caused.
Ms. Tyler has outdone herself. Even as she winds up storylines, more are hinted at, and I, for one, am anxiously awaiting to see whether she pursues them.
