Thank you BBB for hosting me today. I’ve got a new release out under my alter ego Ursula Sinclair. She really likes things a little different and this work is true to form for her.
Shadow Wars: Homebound is a new adult sci/fi romance, you don’t usually see the two together. Lol

It is a pleasure to be here and meet all of you! This release party celebrates the birth of my Keepers of Runes series. Perfect for teens and adults, The Tower of Shadows is full of magic and mayhem. My urge to live action role play my main character was slain by the realization his explosions and swordplay may not be appreciated by my gracious host.

After 22 years of writing for nearly every major publisher in existence, (Harlequin/Silhouette/MIRA, Pocketbooks, Penguin Putnam Berkley, Harper Avon, St. Martin’s Press) and two soap operas (Guiding Light and As the World Turns,) my entire world changes this very week.
Twilight Guardians is the first novel I have ever published entirely independently. My youngest daughter is on the cover. My oldest daughter was my editor. My middle daughter did the formatting and graphic design. This is truly a family project.

My dog likes to lick the couch so that when I sit down in shorts, I sit in cold, clammy dog spit. He thinks it’s funny when I squeal and jump up. I swear he laughs. He’s a corgi. Corgis do that. Neither of my dogs can hold their licker.

Wickedly Dangerous
A Different Kind of Witch
A couple of years ago, I was chatting with my agent, the lovely Elaine Spencer, about what I was going to write next. Elaine mentioned that she liked my books with witch characters best, and asked if I might write another, different one. I’d written previous books (as yet unsold) that featured a witch-cop in the near future, as well as a Wiccan-type witch in a post-apocalyptic world, all based on reasonably “realistic” magical powers. We also talked about our mutual love of books that were updated versions of fairy tales like Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, or Sleeping Beauty. Read More »

Have you ever been on a road trip with one of your girlfriends and started telling creepy stories, eventually scaring the pee waddling out of each other? This is by farmy favorite kind of trip, the kind where you talk and talk (in between stuffing yourselves with candy bars and Diet Cokes, of course).

It also happens to be how my new Entangled romance,
Lone Wolfe Protector was born.

A big Thank You to Rachel for letting me hang out at Bitten By Books today. I’m usually in my comfort zone when I’m lurking in the shadows, so this is a little different for me. I’ll try not to act like a skittish cat!

The Baskerville Affair
When a young lady is simultaneously faced with murder, evil automatons, and an invitation from the queen, what is she to do?
If one is Evelina Cooper, there are quite a few choices. After all, she has magic at her fingertips (sort of) and an aptitude for mechanics (hardly ladylike). She also has the famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, for an uncle, and he’s more than happy to give pointers when it comes to an investigation. So, when a servant turns up dead at the home of Evelina’s Read More »

Demonic Charms: Why we love Paranormal Romance
In my dazzling 2014 debut, Demonic Charms, I discuss the pull faith faces with finding out she is not just a witch, and the last in the world, but a deadly slayer as well. The psychological turmoil it presses against her will is detrimental to her health. Especially when the furies are called upon.

It seems unbelievable and slightly strange that becoming an accountant of all things has been my conduit to happiness! I know, crazy right? But it’s true. Having my own accounting practice allowed me to work from home and surround myself with the things I love—my children, writing, and animals! I had the flexibility to spend time with my kids, spend time writing, and caring for our three dogs, two horses, and cat. What could be better?

Exploding Secrets
Secrets. We’ve all had them. Some of us have them right now. “Shhhhhh!” There are tiny secrets like the wind-up chattering teeth you have tucked away for when the Tooth Fairy needs to visit your house. There are huge secrets like that wild night with your girlfriends in Vegas (yes, I’m psychic). Secrets might exist to protect the feelings of others, or they might exist to protect ourselves. Pom-poms for Vampires
Vampires are not meant to be taken seriously.
Okay, now my inbox is filling up with missives from outraged alpha bloodsuckers ready to cancel my subscription to Fangs Weekly and bar me from the I Heart Bram Stoker clubhouse. But really, my dearly undead, the leather jacket and furrowed brow can only take a plot arc so far. Paranormal tales need Read More »

You might be asking yourself, What’s this word—merrow?
Fair enough. I’ll tell you.
Merrow is a Gaelic word. It comes from moruadh or murúghach, which comes from a combo of muir, meaning sea, and oigh, a maid.
So Heather (that’s me, the author), isn’t a merrow a mermaid? Read More »
