Darius considered himself a special kind of evil. For centuries, he had stood beside his Queen without questioning their ways until the last millennia when she was visited by the oracle who told her of the one who would usurp her for her thrown—someone who would gain power over her and dominate her. As the Queen began to slowly clear out all those who supposedly broke the laws but, in truth, she saw as a threat, Darius watched as she murdered and slaughtered everyone in her path. Chained and used only to satiate her sexual desires, bound in a brace of silver for so long it had become a part of him, Darius had nothing left to stay in this world for. Awaiting the sun, something that had not fell on his face in several millennium, Darius is ready to leave his maker until he catches the coppery scent of sustenance calling to him. Finding the woman, body torn, and bathing in her own blood, he knows she is at death’s door, but there was something special about her, and there was only one thing he could do to give them the time to find out why her blood called to him. Her name was Gisele, the only one he had ever changed. Changing her, changed him. The centuries upon centuries of being the sub to his dominant Queen were put behind him when Gisele’s blood demanded that he be the dominant. Taking her home, their sexual intimacies were beyond what he had ever felt before in his life. Gisele readily giving into his dominant demands on her body until she began to convulse with the change now taking over her formally human system. There was only one person who could help them, one that Darius had left behind: his Queen. Returning to the small bungalow that had been the sight of so much of his own physical pain, the new Darius demanded that she show him how to help his submissive lover through the claiming which brought his new dominant side roaring to the surface. The sight of the woman Darius brought into their lives stirred both he and the Queen into a frenzy as they both give into the young sub’s wishes to share her in a dance of sexual needs and desires.

Salvation was a very sizzling hot novella, which was one of the story’s only setbacks in my opinion. I loved the characters, thought the plot was smokingly intense and the eroticism was deliciously decadent. I wanted more—more of the back history, more of what happened to leave Gisele in the situation Darius found her in and more time getting into their heads and into their emotions about what has come to pass between them. In any case, it was a very exciting adventure despite the brevity of their tale. The situation that they find themselves in is very much the same for all of them; they all cheated death and came out the victors with not only a new lease on life but an open love that they share with their love, sex and blood.
